When two groups of dedicated volunteers work together, the results can be amazing. The volunteers from Team Depot assisted The Krewe of Alegria to light their float for the Knight Parade.
A core value of The Home Depot is giving back to their community. This value is demonstrated by every retail store in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico through their Team Depot program. Team Depot consists of employee volunteers who offer their expertise and services to non-profit organizations in the community. Team Depot ‘s work in developing and implementing best practices in corporate volunteering has won Team Depot national recognition.
In 2010, Home Depot associates lent their expertise to complete 1,600 projects throughout the country. Projects span from coast to coast, from building dozens of wheel chair ramps for disabled senior citizens in Altamonte Springs, Florida, to Seattle, Washington where they remodeled a home of an 82 year old Marine Corps veteran. The Home Depot Foundation assists in disaster relief, and is there to help rebuild after tornados, floods, and hurricanes. They also serve those who have served their country by providing grants and volunteers for U.S. military veterans and families.
The Krewe of Alegria was formed in 1986, and was incorporated in 2004 as a non-profit organization. This group of women strives to be ambassadors of goodwill to the community through their charitable work. Alegria’s primary charity is Kicken’ for Kids, which provides shoes to children in the Tampa Bay Area.
