Team BC names coaching staff for provincial under-18 squad

The British Columbia provincial under-18 tackle team (Team BC) will have a very familiar look this summer when they try to build off back-to-back bronze medal victories at the annual Football Canada Cup tournament which is slated to be held this year at the University of Western Ontario from July 15 to 21.

Football BC, the provincial governing body for amateur football in British Columbia, announced on Wednesday the coaching staff for the 2012 squad which features six returning members from the 2011 team.

Leading the team as head coach and offensive line coach for a third straight year will be Tom Kudaba, co-head coach of BC High School Football's Terry Fox Ravens.

Joining Kudaba as returning members of Team BC are offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jay Prepchuk (Handsworth Royals), defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Dino Geremia (Football BC/Simon Fraser University), receivers coach Mark Townsend (Mt. Douglas Rams), defensive backs coach Alexis Sanschagrin (Belmont Bulldogs) and defensive line coach Ray Moon (South Delta Sun Devils).

The lone newcomer to Team BC's staff is Jerome Erdman, who is currently the defensive coordinator for the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds. Erdman will serve as special teams coordinator and running backs coach for Team BC.

The 2012 Football Canada Cup is open to players born in 1995 or 1996. Eligible players who are interested in being part of Team BC must attend an upcoming tryout session in January or February. The schedule of upcoming tryouts is available here.
