Teaching the rules of social media

We all have that one friend on social media who shares way too much. With the invention of social media has come a great need for rules to govern it, and not just the rules the social media sites set.

First off, make sure you’re using the correct site for your purpose. If you want to share a cute video of kittens, do it on Facebook or YouTube, not on Linkedin. If you have doubts, for once the younger generations may be able to give you some insight. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Second, follow a few basic rules. Don’t overshare, don’t comment too much, and don’t share any personal information. It’s also a good idea to only accept friend requests from people you actually know- people you don’t know probably aren’t looking for friendship.

There are 1.26 billion people on Facebook. Taking time to learn some basic rules makes it a much nicer experience for all of us. Check out this infographic for more info.
