The San DIego Unified School District and district teachers from the San Diego Education Association took sides on teacher transfers during a last week in negotiations on school education funded by a deficit budget. The district counts on trabsfers to fill needs for teachers at shool sites. Union members stand by class site guarantees the teachers can agree with.
Losing ground on setting up teaching work that fills the needs of the students in a class is not a possibility SDEA stays silent on.
Two bargaining sessions held with the district kept union representatives at work on the new contract the union members want approved to lower class size, and keep class workloads down. Work on the agreement needed on transfers was supposed to settle common ground on doin gthe teaching job with district transfer plans the district has asked to keep flexible.
The district made no new proosals.
Teachers in the San DIego Unified School District will wait out the bargaining sessions scheduled to last into the Summer months.
