Teacher works to establish environmental club

Teaching can be a difficult and sometimes frustrating job. But Linda Lidestri a teacher at Sawgrass Springs Middle School in South Florida enjoys a major part of her job. She advises the Environmental Issues Club. She helps teach students about the importance of taking care of the environment. And now she is helping the students put together a recycling program.

"The students are painting recycling cans that will be placed around the school. We believe that if the can are brightly colored, more students will recycle. I want students to learn about the environment and the importance of taking care of it," said Lidestri.

A growing number of Sawgrass Springs Middle School students are joining the Environmental Issues Club. One of their projects is taking care of a large garden on the school's campus.
