Teacher suspended for lassoing: History lesson doesn't go as planned

Teacher suspended for lassoing? It almost sounds like a joke, but Schrade Middle School suspended a teacher for allegedly lassoing a student during a history lesson. According to a report from Wednesday (Feb. 14), a student volunteered to be lassoed by the teacher, but ended up sustaining bruises during the incident. Now the police in Rowlett, Texas, are even considering possible criminal charges.

It seems that this teacher tried to be innovative in his teaching techniques and that the results simply went wrong. The report stated that the teacher does feel badly for what happened and already agreed not to use the lasso in his class again. That doesn't change what happened and it's possible that he could end up facing worse than a suspension if the parents of the 13-year-old volunteer decide that they need to press charges.

The identity of the teacher suspended for lassoing is still being kept under wraps, but that probably won't last long with a class full of young witnesses who probably cannot wait to tell their friends. The Garland Independent School District was quick to act in this situation, but since the teacher didn't intend to inflict any harm upon the student, maybe the suspension will end up serving as the only punishment.
