A teacher’s lap dance may have turned into her last chance at being near students. The Houston area middle school teacher allegedly performed a four minute, full contact lap dance on a teenage boy, allowing other students to slap her on the butt as she rubbed up against the birthday boy. However, she’s the one in the “hot seat” now.
According to Fox News on April 26, 42-year-old Felicia A. Smith of Spring, Texas was charged Thursday with having “an improper relationship with a student.” Smith was arrested and freed on a $30,000 bond. Investigators say the teacher in the Aldin Independent School District allegedly did the suggestive dance on Feb. 26 at Stovall Middle School, while other students used their cell phones to record the inappropriate dance.
Smith reportedly told the unnamed student “I love you, baby, happy birthday” after the song. She allegedly rubbed her buttocks on the boy and placed her head in between his legs. It appears Smith has sashayed her way out of a job; while the boy got a birthday gift he won’t soon forget, Smith was sacked.
Smith told investigators that her class convinced her to perform the dance for the student's birthday. Witnesses say that as the teen walked into his third-period class and sat at his desk with his journal, Smith placed a chair in the middle of the room and told him to sit down. Music was played, and the class started whooping it up as Smith danced provocatively near, and on, the boy. She allegedly stumbled a few times in her high heels, eliciting peals of laughter from her stunned class.
The Aldin Independent School District released the following statement:
A criminal charge of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a student has been filed against a Stovall Middle School teacher. The charge was filed by Aldine Independent School District Police, who investigated the case along with the campus administration. The teacher was removed from the campus during the investigation and has not returned. The district takes this allegation seriously and is fully cooperating with prosecutors. The safety and security of our students will continue to be a top priority in Aldine ISD.
Smith, an African American woman with long dreadlocks, refused comment at her court appearance. When confronted by reporters, she smirked and politely said "no comment."
The Harris County district attorney and the Aldine, Texas police department both reviewed the video, and have copies, reports the Daily Caller via Yahoo! News. It’s not clear if the teacher carried on a relationship with the boy outside of the classroom or if she is guilty of any sexual misconduct with the minor. Police are investigating if her actions were isolated to the lap dance incident or if Smith may face additional charges. She made her first court appearance Friday to answer the initial charge.
The Stovall Middle School website lists Smith’s email as FASmith@aldine.k12.tx.us. Inquiries made by Examiner to the school and to Smith’s work email went unanswered. Smith’s website page lists no other information about her.
