Teach your preschooler the importance of removing litter from the beach

One of the best places to visit on a family vacation is the beach. Traditionally, young children are trained by habit to pick up seashells off the beach. They may create seashell collections and sea shell art. However, the habit of encouraging preschoolers to remove seashells from the beach needs to change.
Removing seashells from the beach creates beach erosion. The only thing that needs to be removed from the beach these days is the trash.
Teach your preschooler the importance of removing litter from the beach. Take a look at the big picture. Is there more litter on the beach than there are seashells? Wouldn’t the beach look much more beautiful if there were more seashells and less trash?
Also, how many seabirds do you see hopping around with broken wings because they got into some litter that was left on the beach? How many sea animals wash up dead on the shore because of beach litter?
This generation needs to demonstrate for the next generation a new way of spending time getting exercise on the beach besides causing more erosion by picking up seashells. Take that beach bag and fill it full of broken plastic, bottles, lids, bait bags, and everything else that gets left behind on the beach and threatens the sea life around it.
