Are you interested in teaching other about the magical place that is the Chesapeake Bay?
Are you a sailor or boater that spends an inordinate amount of time in and around the Maryland/Chesapeake Bay area's?
Then the time for you to act is near.
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking interested adults to become TEAM (Teaching Environmental Awareness in Maryland) volunteers.
Volunteers should have an outgoing personality, a strong desire to protect the Chesapeake Bay and enjoy working with children. No prior teaching experience is necessary. TEAM offers schools-free classroom programs on the Chesapeake Bay watershed, horseshoe crabs, oyster reefs, Chesapeake watermen and streams.
“Our volunteers’ mission is to educate students about the Chesapeake Bay, its marine life and other Maryland environmental issues,” said Amy Henry, TEAM DNR coordinator. “TEAM reaches more than 6,000 students in public and private schools each year.”
Workshops will be held at the Robinson Nature Center, 6692 Cedar Lane, Columbia, Maryland.
Participants are asked to attend both of the following sessions as part of their training:
• Friday, February 24 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
• Friday, March 2 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
To register for the workshop, contact Amy Henry at 410-260-8828 or ahenry@dnr.state.md.us. For more information about TEAM DNR visit dnr.maryland.gov/education/teamdnr.
