Tea Party Patriots host Independence Day protests

"They are going on all across the country," Amy Kremer, national organizer for Tea Party Patriots, is telling reporters. "Last time it was on one day; this time it is all July 4 weekend. We will have more tea parties this time around than we did last time, for sure."
Eight Illinois tea parties are among more than 200 Tea Party Patriots is planning nationwide to highlight fiscal responsibility, limited government, free market and opposition to government healthcare programs.
The fireworks don’t stop there. The group is urging supporters to meet at Congressional offices at 12 p.m. EST July 17 in solidarity for blocking the Obama healthcare proposals.
"It's important because all of these people are concerned about this slippery slope to socialism," she said. Every day there is something the Obama administration or Congress is trying to push through to take more control over our lives."
