Tea Party Nation leader Judson Phillips wrote in a blog post that the founding fathers would have hated Bill Maher because of his support for socialist policies.
Responding to a recent tirade in which Maher expressed (among other things) a total ignorance of history, he said:
Now, I want you teabaggers out there to understand one thing: while you idolize the Founding Fathers and dress up like them, and smell like them, I think it’s pretty clear that the Founding Fathers would have hated your guts. And what’s more, you would’ve hated them. They were everything you despise. They studied science, read Plato, hung out in Paris, and thought the Bible was mostly b**s**t." (Expletive edited)
Calling Maher an alleged comedian who makes the news with outrageous and stupid remarks, Phillips said Maher supports socialist policies the founders fought against, and claimed Maher supports restrictions on free speech and would like to see a one party system of government.
No Bill Maher, the founding fathers would have hated you and with good cause. The founding fathers risked their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor against the tyranny of an oppressive government. Bill Maher’s only risk is that he will not get invited to trendiest leftist cocktail party in Hollywood.
Maher has a long history of denigrating average Americans with foul, insulting remarks. Last year, he compared American voters to dogs who cannot understand issues:
They don’t understand the issues. They’re too stupid. They’re like a dog. They can understand inflection. They can understand fear. They can understand dominance. They don’t understand issues.
A search on Bill Maher at Newsbusters reveals page after page of instances where the alleged comedian made ignorant and insulting statements.
Recently, Maher was heckled on the Tonight Show when he said:
No, because that's the rhetoric they love. The right-wing loves, the go-to rhetoric for them is, "Wouldn't it be fun to kill the people we disagree with?" You know, they try to put across this false equivalence
But Phillips wrote that Maher is only a symptom of an elitist, liberal Hollywood culture that is "totally out of touch with America". "In Maherland, patriotic Americans are only there to be mocked and to be the punch lines on his unfunny jokes," he said.
Events of the last eight days would indicate those Americans are also there to be falsely accused for heinous crimes in order to advance a radical leftist agenda.
"Bill Maher hates patriotic Americans," Phillips wrote, adding, "That is funny because real Americans hate Bill Maher."
Phillips then said he would respond by dropping HBO, the network that carries Maher's program. "Perhaps if enough of us do this, HBO might get the message and send Maher to the unemployment line," he wrote.
Regardless of the position one takes, one thing is clear - the founding fathers would certainly have approved of the vigorous debate.
