Tea Party affects Arizona Republican Primary Election

If you were thinking that the Tea Party would be automatically supporting Sen. John McCain for re-election in Arizona, there may be a surprise in store.  Actually there may be a split among the conservative party members as to who they will endorse. The coming primary may show the divisions among the conservative grassroots group.

In an article in the Daily Caller on January 27, 2010, it is pointed out that Sen. John McCain does not necessarily have an advantage over former Arizona Rep. J.D. Hayworth as not all Tea Party members are putting their resources behind him.

Why Dick Armey's Freedom Works did not list the Arizona Senate race among those in the 65 congressional races is causing questions to arise among political watchdogs. One of the problems is that McCain appears to have a mixed history.  On the other hand, J. D. Hayworth's delay in announcing his candidacy made some Tea Party leaders uneasy.

The Arizona Tea Party groups have been unhappy with McCain's stand on immigration and support for the guest worker program.  On the other hand, enthusiasm for Hayworth was tempered by thinking that he is just another "establishment" candidate. So if Hayworth goes after McCain's voting record, he will  have a lot of convincing to do that he would act differently.

McCain is being accused of flip flopping on imposing taxes which Hayworth's past history is that one of voting to reduce taxes.  That is an important issue with followers of the Tea Party. In the end, the outcome of the primary may prove or disprove how much influence they have in Arizona.

thank you Tea Party for dividing the conservative vote! keep up the good work!

Tea parties are not a left or right wing thing, it is an american thing. Who cares about left and right...only fools fall for that divide and conquer load of crap. BOTH parties need to be outlawed and treated like the gang members they are. BOTH sides have committed treason and warcrimes. And idiots who support these criminals need to be eliminated...and I mean removed from life as we dont need stupid people anymore affecting the rest of us because they eat the lies the mainstream media feeds them. I have no sympathy for traitors and brown shirts and apologists for the new world order crowd. Screw Oblama and Bush, they both worked for the corporations and the federal reserve. Thy were both members of the CFR who are unelected people making decisions for us without our consent, and the bought and paid for government carrying out these plans without our consent, they need to be reminded who they work for.

I would vote for JD, primarily in opposition to McCain's stand on immigration "reform" and a guest worker program. Also, the radios ads McCain is running BEFORE JD has announced his candiacy are pretty sleazy and getting nasty before JD throws his hat in the ring. Could be McCain already feels the heat?

  • Annbenny 2 years ago

Is JD's ONLY ISSUE immigration??? That one-trick poney has never done anything to fight the big spending in congress or the government intrusion in the private economy - unlike McCain, a true hero and wise congressmen! (unlike Hayworth).

  • AdamHero 2 years ago

When he was in Congress, JD was part of the problem, voting for massive spending and massive deficits. That blowhard lost a bullet-proof republican district. Let's get serious. VOTE MCCAIN

Do a little research. America spends roughly 800 BILLION annually related to illegal immigrants. That's your taxpayer money for free medical care, over-crowded classrooms, crime, jail "hosting", social security (Thanks Algore!) and on and on. Can we afford this in a poor economy? McCain wants to continue at least part of this. I don't wish to see a penny of my money supporting illegals from anywhere. I'd rather it were spent securing the borders! Vote JD! JD has other issues he grinds, but immigration is #1 for me.

I would vote for ANY Republican EXCEPT for John McCain!

ARticle title, just do a search.
Indians, Lobbyists and Arizona Politics...OH MY!

Better find out what McCain is really about! NONE of it good!

According to John McCain EVERYONE in the world should be able to come here.

Give everyone in the world an opportunity to come to America

“Those who live closest are the ones who can get here. Everyone in the world should have the opportunity through an orderly process to come to this country.”

Change rule barring immigrants from running for president?

Q: Should we change our Constitution to allow men like Mel Martinez, born in Cuba, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, born in Austria, to stand here some night as candidates for president?

McCAIN: He and I have many similar attributes, so I have to seriously consider it.

Historically speaking, the party of an incumbent president almost always loses in the mid-term election. The pundits are telling us that 2010 will be no exception. I wouldn't be too sure of that. The Tea Party knuckleheads are already claiming responsibility for last week's Massachusetts upset and have every intention charting the GOP's future course. When the powers-that-be within the RNC deny them the ability to set the agenda, they'll splinter off into third and fourth party uprisings.

How can I be so sure of this? It's quite simple, really. These people are not only crazy, they're also dumber than doggy dung - and, thus, very easy to predict. It's only a matter of time before their mad house of cards comes crashing down.

The ten months between now and Election Day will only see the continued implosion of the "party of Lincoln". Count on it.

I am conservative and Juan McAmnesty need to GO!

Only conservatives for me now since the socialist slipped into the White House.

Also, does this sentence make sense?

"McCain is being accused of flip flopping on imposing taxes which Hayworth's past history is that one of voting to reduce taxes."

  • molasky 2 years ago

"Tea parties are not a left or right wing thing, it is an american thing"

Then why are they all discussing only which republican candidate to support, and not independents? Why will they all vote for Republicans regardless of the outcome of those primaries, with independent candidates getting irrelevant shares? Why do incumbent Republicans (gangsters, by your argument) speak at all their rallies?

  • Kick McAmnesty To The Curb 2 years ago

Another conservative who wants to kick the zionist controlled, 100 year war, pro-Amnesty traitor to the curb. This clown's home state is in a mess with the illegal alien situation thanks in no small part to this traitor, so show him the door Arizona. Curiously everytime you see this guy Joe LIEberman is around whispering sweet nothings in his ear, probably something like okay John be a good goyim and kow-tow to AIPAC and let's keep fighting those wars for Israel to protect her borders, but let's open the flood-gates to all our southern hispanic neighbors for the good ole USA. I would stick my hand in a fire before I would use it to vote for a sell-out traitor like McAmnesty and his wars for Israel garbage.
