TEA Parties puts Fox News in the spotlight

While competing television news stations, already far behind  in viewer ratings, either played down or made fun of the TEA Tax Day parties that took place in 600-700 cities and towns across America, Fox news provided coverage continually during the day.

Fox News treated it like an important event with coverage that allowed the 42 million people who did not vote for Obama to participate, if not in person, at least in the sharing of frustration against the spending spree by the President and Democrats in Congress.

MSNBC, CNN and other stations may have put down the Americans participating to their own rating peril and income from advertising dollars.  For example, Fox News usually  reaches 1,416,000 viewers versus that of MSNBC's 455,000. So while people like Keith Olbermann, who got thrills up his legs when Obama spoke during the presidential campaign, drops lower and lower in viewer ratings, Bill O'Reilly reaches over 5 million viewers on some days.

If nothing else, Fox's coverage of the TEA Party Tax Day events was a wise business decision.  It was smart enough to figure out that there was a wide audience available that would want to watch the events and there was only one place where they could find them--on Fox News.

Meanwhile, newspapers like the New York Times, which is on the verge of bankruptcy, and the Washington Post barely mentioned it and the L.A. Times is said to have ridiculed it. Is it no wonder that the newspaper industry is dying in the U.S.?

The TV news outlets that ignored the folks attending TEA parties have sent a message to the millions of Americans who are disillusioned with them and the Obama administration may regret it when the rating come in shortly.

Perhaps Fox News was smart enough to remember the words of Margaret Mead:

Never doubt that a small group of people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Very good points, Martha. For people who like to look at poll numbers/statistics to gain an advantage, the liberal newsmedia is really missing out on the numbers you presented.

But then, they are puppets of the Obama administration who cannot think on their own anyways. They'll just do whatever Obama wants them too since they are his comrade puppets

Martha, You confused the Obama butt-kissers, Olbermann's the one with the enormous head, and it was Chris Matthews who made the infamous "thrill up my leg" remark.

You are correct. MSNBC News has deteriorated so much that I seldom watch it; these two have made it even more boring during the last year. Probably the reason its ratings keep falling. I wonder if MSNBC keeps them on because it would be too expensive to buy out their contracts. Unless MSNBC makes some changes, it would not surprise me to see it disappear as a TV news source because it is becoming irrevelant.
