Tea Lovers Festival by Kulov takes a month to celebrate

The World Tea Expo is not the only exciting tea event coming to Southern California in May. In fact, Kulov's Tea Lover's Festival not only occurs in May, it lasts the entire month. This is the ninth year for this unique event in which instead of bringing the tea to one location, tea lovers are invited to attend a number of events in various cities.

Activities began Fridat with the TeaVIP Opening Reception and Tea Ceremony held at Sencha Naturals in Los Angeles. Toyomi Morikami of Channoyu SOHAK Group presented the Misono Tana Japanese Tea Ceremony. The evening included live music and sencha cocktails.

Sunday, May 4 is Kulov's annual Tea Lovers Bus Tour. This year the tour is going to tea establishment in San Diego. Tea lovers will start out at Bird Pick Tea and Herbs in Culver City with check-in and breakfast. The bus will then take them to Extraordinary Desserts in San Diego where they will first experience a European brunch and tea-infused desserts. Next they will visit Mad Monk Tea and then continue to Leaf and Kettle. (Note, the Tea Examiner has discovered that registration for this event has closed.)

There are many additional tea events throughout the month of May. Mother's Day Weekend High Tea with TeaDrops in Los Angeles on May 10 from 3:00-5:30 p.m. Tea will be served outdoors in the private home of restauranteur Paula Bambis. Tickets are $39 per adult and $31 for a child under the age of 12. ( Maximum 20 participants)

On Friday, May 16, Nancy Caldwell with present Tasty Tea Party Menu Planning at Bistro Garden in Studio City, 1:30-3:30. Tickets are $80 per person and include a $55 afternoon tea with tax and gratuity.

On Sunday, May 18, Tiffany Williams of Tea Boutique will present Tea and Meditation at Coffee Gallery in Altadena. Many spiritual people use tea as an aid to meditation. Williams will instruct participants in three ways of doing this. Teas presented will be Organic Jasmine Silver Needles White Tea, Organic Keemun Black Tea, and Organic Oriental Beauty Oolong. Tickests are $15 per person. (Maximum 12 participants)

Saturday, May 24 Pattti Harrison will present Modern Teaware Design at Birb Pick Teas and Herbs in Pasadena. Explore the new designs and materials created to optimize you tea-drinking experience. Tickets are $15. ( Maximum 12 participants)
