TCU will sport new uniforms in Saturday's game against Utah Utes (photo link)

Yesterday, in a press release, TCU announced that they will wear the new Nike Pro Combat uniform starting this Saturday in their home game against the Utah Utes. TCU is one of ten elite teams that will wear the new uniform. This is the lightest football uniform that Nike has ever created, and is 25% lighter than a regular uniform.

“Players need their uniforms to be as light as possible so they can play the game at top speed,” said Kris Aman, Global VP and General Manager for Nike Athletic Training which includes football. “The Nike Pro Combat uniform is a modern system of dress that is dramatically lighter while providing durability and protection.”

The press release states: Nike designers immersed themselves in TCU Horned Frog history and lore to bring inspirational cues to the look and direction of the Nike Pro Combat uniforms. The entire system of dress features aesthetic elements inspired by the Horned Frogs’ fearless attitude and promising future. Nike was even able to digitally sublimate a horned frog skin print on the new TCU uniform pants and helmets.

    Memo to TCU

Be careful on how involved you allow Nike in designing your uniforms. Oregon has no tradition and is just plain goofy with their multiple uniform sets.

BYU had the infamous Nike bibs for a year. The NIKE designers at times are eating too much granola and living the life of the 70's Bill Walton, it seems.

Take the good ideas and modify them. I think the helmet is an improvement as well as the jersey. The pants? A bit over the top.
A touch of the frog scales on the pants, ok. But as is it almost looks like fish net stockings. A tad Gay.

When BYU went back to their traditonal uni's they kept the darker blue and preserved traditon.

TCU, dump the purple jersey and black pant combo, it's too
    Northwestern-ish.

Good luck. Carry the flag for the MWC, as Utah did last year.
    Stick it to the BCS.
