TCM's Friday Night Spotlight takes on Pre-Code Hollywood

TCM's Friday Night Spotlight is back after the month of 'Summer Under The Stars.' This month's pick for Friday Night Spotlight is about Hollywood during the pre-code era. Pre-Code Hollywood was a time that Clasic Hollywood pushed its boundaries on hot topics. In other words this: generally considered to be the era in the American film industry between the introduction of sound in the late 1920s and the strict enforcement of the Motion Picture Production Code beginning in the mid-1930s, that's all according to TCM.

The classic movie channel is sharing a variety of these movies and it starts at 8 p.m. ET with the movie "Baby Face." But it's interesting to note that there will be showing the pre-Code movies for 24 hours and Robert Osborne and Alec Baldwin will be hosts during primetime, so really the whole thing starts in the morning and the first movie to air is "The Big Shakedown," that movie will be airing at 6 a.m. ET time on TCM. So every Friday starting in the morning they will be airing the pre-Code movies and at night starting at 8, will be when the Friday Night Spotlight starts.

Here's a link that will show all the movies that will be airing on Fridays throughtout September. Some of those hightlights, are:

  • "Freaks"
  • "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1932)
  • "I'm No Angel"
  • "Little Caesar"
  • "Scarface"
  • "She Done Him Wrong"

So check every Friday this September to watch some Pre-Code Hollywood. It's also the Friay Night Spotlight!
