Turner Classic Movies will pay tribute to classic film star Peter O'Toole with an evening of special programming on Sunday, December 29, 2013. The eight time Oscar nominee, best known as the title character in "Lawrence of Arabia" (1962), died on December 14, 2013, at the age of 81.

The TCM schedule begins at 8 pm Eastern with a presentation of "Lawrence of Arabia," the sweeping epic that brought O'Toole lasting fame and his first Best Actor nomination. The actor went on to seven more Best Actor nominations but never actually won, although his final nomination came in 2007 for "Venus" (2006). "Lawrence of Arabia" also features direction from David Lean and supporting performances from Omar Sharif, Anthony Quinn, Alec Guinness, Claude Rains, and Arthur Kennedy. The movie won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, with ten nominations in all.

At midnight, TCM presents "Peter O'Toole: Live from the TCM Classic Film Festival," from the 2012 film festival programming. O'Toole then appears in the 1969 musical remake of "Goodbye, Mr. Chips," which airs at 1 am. O'Toole earned his fourth Best Actor nomination for this role. The star picked up his seventh Best Actor nod for "My Favorite Year" (1982), which airs at 3:45 am. (Learn more about Peter O'Toole by watching the video at the top of this article.)

Other highlights of the TCM schedule for December include a tribute to Joan Fontaine during the daytime hours on December 29, as well as additional memorial programming on December 30. In January, TCM will celebrate Joan Crawford as the Star of the Month. Visit the official TCM website for more information about upcoming programs and the full schedule.
