Taylor Swift heads into tonight's CMA awards on the tailwind of a major winning streak. Last night she took home yet another award receiving BMI’s “Top song” for her hit “Love Story. This is her second year in a row winning the coveted award. During her acceptance speech Swift said "I just want to say to every songwriter and every loved one of a songwriter, thank you, because you are the reason I wanted to try Nashville." Swift is also nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Vocalist of the year, and album of the year.

Kris Kristofferson was entertained by fellow musicians Vince Gill, Patty Griffin and Willie Nelson singing some of his greatest hits. BMI President and Ceo Del Bryant told the tale of how Kristofferson came to Nashville getting by with odd jobs sweeping floors and emptying ashtrays in the Columbia recording studios. The highlight was when Bryant recalled a popular tale of the day Kristofferson landed a helicopter in Johnny Cash's yard to hand him a beer, along his demo tape.

After the performance and speeches Kristofferson was recognized for his many years of entertaining with a BMI Icon award. Apparently overcome Kristofferson simply stared stated "I want to thank Vince and Patty and Willie for making me cry at my table."
The duo Brooks and Dunn were presented the BMI Presidents award. Bryant noted that their multiple awards making them one of the most awarded acts in Country Music. Upon winning Kix Brooks said "This is the reason I came to town -- to write song.Receiving this award is kind of the top of the mountain."
