Country pop star Taylor Swift is gearing up for her next single release from last year's mega-successful “Red” album. She will follow up “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “Begin Again” and “I Knew You Were Trouble.” with bubbly pop track “22,” RyanSeacrest.com reported on Tuesday.
“22” will be released to American radio on April 1. On the guitar-backed pop song, Swift details the exhilarating yet uncertain life every twenty-something faces with the lyrics: “We're happy, free, confused and lonely in the best way / It's miserable and magical.” Its angsty message is reminiscent of rock group fun.'s “Some Nights,” but instead of questioning life further, she decides to bask in the moment. “I don't know about you but I'm feeling twenty-two / Everything will be alright if you keep me next to you,” she sings. The song was produced by Britney Spears hitmakers Max Martin and Shellback
The “22” single continues to ride Swift's crossover pop sound from “We Are Never Ever” and “Trouble,” with “Begin Again” being the only country track released so far from “Red.” The album itself hit the top spot back on Billboard back in October and has sold over 3 million copies in the U.S.
