Taylor Swift is being sued. The 23-year-old country/pop singer has been hit with a lawsuit claiming she kept a $2.5 million paycheck despite having not performed the gig. Swift was reportedly supposed to perform at the Capital Hoedown concert in Ottawa in August 2012, The Huffington Post reports on Feb. 19, 2013. The concert was canceled, and $1.8 million had to be refunded to customers. Apparently, Swift is being asked to refund the $1.8 million. However, Swift's reps say she never made a deal with FIRE USA Inc., the company that handled the tickets for the show.
The news that Taylor Swift is being sued is yet another dark spot in the singer's recent history. Some may argue she is in the news these days for all the wrong reasons, and that the talented singer's music buzz has taken a back seat for the moment. Taylor released "Red" in 2012 and his currently touring the album.
The "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" singer was recently in the news for a rumor that surfaced between her and singer Carrie Underwood. The rumor was the two were enemies, but Underwood denied the rumor. Before that, Swift made headlines for allegedly mocking ex-boyfriend Harry Styles, while performing on the 2013 Grammys stage, by mocking his British accent.
Taylor Swift takes her "Red" tour to Chicago at Soldier Field on Aug. 10, 2013.
