Despite the success of Taylor Swift’s double Platinum album “Red”, the 2014 GRAMMY Awards were not kind to the country superstar. Taylor Swift was nominated in four categories, but left empty handed.

The Album of the Year category understandably has multi-genre competition, so Taylor Swift’s loss to Daft Punk may not have been that much of a shock. In the country categories, however, it may have come as a surprise that Kacey Musgraves was able to usurp country’s princess. Kacey Musgraves took both the Best Country Song and Best Country Album trophies, stepping up her game as a major player in the country genre. Taylor Swift was also nominated alongside Tim McGraw for “Highway Don’t Care”, but the Best Country Duo/Group Performance award went to The Civil Wars, another surprise considering the duo has seemingly broken up.

Even though Taylor Swift didn’t get to make one of her famous so-shocked-and-grateful acceptance speeches, she did leave her mark on the 2014 GRAMMYs with an incredible performance of “All Too Well.”
