Taylor Swift's 'Red' album tops the Billboard chart at 2012's end

Taylor Swift, the hot 23 year old country and pop star, finished 2012 in the top spot on the Billboard 200 album chart with "Red."

And Swift’s fourth studio album held the number 1 spot for the fourth consecutive week.

“Red” was at the top of the chart for three other weeks making it number 1 for seven non-consecutive weeks.

According to figures from Nielsen SoundScan, the album ended 2012 with 241,000 units sold,

The performing artist, who is popular among many age groups and across the country and pop genres has now topped the Billboard album chart for 24 weeks in her career- an accomplishment by only one other female artist.

Since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales figures for Billboard in 1991, Adele has held the title for most weeks by a female artist at number one on the chart.

Now Swift shares that notoriety with Adele.

The popular, vibrant American singer-songwriter will begin her third concert tour the "Red Tour" in Omaha, Nebraska on March 13, 2013.

Swift will appear in Sacramento on August 27, 2013.
