Tonight, Taylor Swift, 21, will be highlighted on the CBS news show 60 Minutes. During the segment, Lesley Stahl, interviews the Nashville singer and she reveals intimate feelings about her past, present, and future.
Swift reflects on issues she had while growing up, that include feeling overweight, having overly curly hair, and wearing glasses. She says ‘Criticism still hurts. I don't have thick skin. I hate reading criticisms, you never really, like, get past things hurting you.’
From her past, speaking from a painful bullying experience, Swift did what she normally does-she wrote a song about it. As a result of that hurtful past, the song Mean, was written, recorded, and adopted worldwide by fans as an anti-bullying outcry.
Today, Swift says that being a role model is something she doesn’t take lightly. ‘I definitely think about a million people when I am getting dressed in the morning, that's just part of my life now. I think it's my responsibility to know it and to be conscious of it.’ The star recently moved out of her parent’s home and bought a condo in downtown Nashville.
As for the future, the country & pop singer/songwriter claims that she is responsible for the youth of this generation. Stating ‘it would be really easy to say-I'm 21 now-I do what I want. You raise your kids. But, that's not the truth of it. The truth of it is that every singer out there with songs on the radio is raising the next generation. So make your words count.’
With awards from the CMA, AMC, Teen Choice Awards, VMA, Nashville Music Awards and AMA; and a fledging acting career, there is no telling what the young star will be up to next. So don’t miss her interview tonight on CBS. It will be airing at 6PM CST.
