Taylor Swift is certainly a very attractive and talented young entertainer. As would be anticipated she has gained an awful lot of wealth from her success in the entertainment world. Now she is also emerging
as one of those unique types of people who has decided to use some of her wealth to try to help make this world a better place for other people too. Swift tops the list of 2013's most charitable celebrities, reports People on Dec. 30, 2013.
When it comes to stories about what Swift is up to when she is not entertaining, instead of making a name for herself acting up, which has always been in vogue for some entertainers, she is making a name for herself because of her acts of humanity as demonstrated by her generosity for charitable causes. The nonprofit group DoSomething.org has ranked Swift at the top of the list of "The Top 20 Celebs Gone Good."
Swift has been named the most charitable celebrity of 2013, based on a $100,000 donation to the Nashville Symphony on her 24th birthday. She also headlined Prince William and Kate's Winter Whites Gala to raise money for Centrepoint, which is a homeless youth organization.
This is the second year in a row Swift has been ranked at the top of the list of celebrities gone good by DoSomething.org, reports Rolling Stone. One Direction has ranked second for raising more than $3 million for the British charity Comic Relief. One Direction also raised more than $800,000 for cancer research.
This is some good news alongside a lot of horrible news as we enter 2014 amidst reports of more government sponsored human rights abuses, police and psychiatric brutality, poverty, homelessness and starvation than ever before in the United States and worldwide. We are seeing Swift, One Direction and others in the entertainment industry are at least trying to help make this world a better place for many people who have not been as fortunate as they have been.
