Taylor Swift flies to London for 'showdown' with Harry Styles

On January 22, 2013, the Daily Star reported that Grammy winner Taylor Swift, 23, has flown from the U.S. to London to have a face-to-face confrontation with One Direction's Harry Styles, 18. Swift and Styles (who were nicknamed "Haylor" as a couple) publicly dated from mid-November 2012 to the first week in January 2013.

Their breakup was reportedly not amicable, and there have been conflicting stories about who dumped whom.

Unnamed sources told British tabloids the Daily Mirror and The Sun that Swift broke up with Styles because she became too possessive of him and was jealous of the other women in his life.

But another source identified only as a "pal" of Swift's told American tabloid website Radar Online that Styles was the one who broke up with Swift because she's "asexual" and wasn't meeting his sexual needs.

An unnamed source told the Daily Star: "After they ended things at the start of the year, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles haven't had any contact, but the country star has just landed in the U.K. And she's believed to have flown in just so she can sit down and sort things out with the One Direction hunk. Taylor landed at Luton in her private jet and checked into a London hotel - not far from Harry's pad. Harry is back in the country after a promo trip to Japan so the pair are now both in the capital. The pair split after a huge row in the Caribbean, and they left separately to do their own thing."

One Direction is the biggest global act to emerge from "The X Factor," by having No. 1 hits and sold-out tours in several countries. "The X Factor" executive producer Simon Cowell helped create One Direction in 2010, when he and other "X Factor" decision makers took five contestants who originally auditioned for "The X Factor" U.K. as solo singers and put them in a group called One Direction, which ultimately came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010. Cowell was One Direction's "X Factor" U.K. mentor when he was a judge on the show. He also signed One Direction to Syco Music, the record company co-owned by Cowell and Sony Music.

This news of Swift confronting Styles in person after their breakup comes just a few days after the Daily Mirror reported that Cowell told Styles to remain friendly with Swift because the former couple will inevitably see each other at awards shows and other events. Cowell was also reportedly concerned that the negative publicity over the breakup might hurt One Direction's popularity if Styles is widely perceived as the "bad guy" who dumped Swift.

Even though Swift is reportedly eager to talk things out with Styles in person and she might be open to a reconciliation, many sources are telling the media that the former couple will not be getting back together. And then there are many people who think the Haylor relationship was never a real romance because it was fabricated for publicity.

January 23, 2013 update: The Irish Sun quotes an unnamed source, who predicted that Styles and Swift will reconcile when they see each other at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France, on January 26, 2013. We'll have to see if that turns out to be true.

The source told The Irish Sun: “Taylor realized she was being a bit full-on. She is now more relaxed about their relationship. She intends to enjoy it more rather than worry about where it could eventually lead. Harry is not the sort of guy you can stay mad at for long. She’s given him some space and it’s done them both a world of good. What happened over New Year is now a distant memory.”
