Taylor Swift fan Delaney “Laney” Ann Brown died Christmas Day from leukemia complications, according to a Dec. 30 Huffington Post report. Brown, who had a bucket list of wishes to fulfill had the opportunity to get some of them checked off, including talking to Swift.
According to E! News, Brown received a surprise phone call on her Dec. 20 birthday from none other than her “famous celebrity” friend Swift. The singer heard about the 8-year-old’s cancer fight through Make-A-Wish America. Brown FaceTimed Swift, and was reportedly nervous.
A Dec. 20 Facebook post on the Team Laney page reads, “Laney was so nervous to talk to her because she is such a "famous celebrity". I was actually worried that when Taylor Facetimed her that she would be to scared to talk but Taylor was fabulous!!” It continues, “She really engaged Laney in conversation. Laney lit up and had a huge smile on her face. I can't thank Taylor enough for taking time out from her family to make Laney's birthday very memorable. We will hold that memory in our hearts forever.”
A follow-up Christmas Day update on the Team Laney page reports the young Taylor Swift fan’s death. “My heart breaks right now. Our little angel on earth earned her pink glittery angel wings in heaven. She took her last breath at home in her bed at 3:10 surrounded by all her family and friends. I miss her so much already.”
Brown was a Pennsylvania native who lived in the area where Swift was born, E! News reports.
