Some will probably say that it was only a matter of time before Taylor Swift and One Direction singer Harry Styles called it quits. And according to recent reports, that’s exactly what’s happened. Per the Los Angeles Times, the country crooner and her pop star have put an end to their romance. Although they’ve only been labeled an item since November 2012, the two have been practically inseparable.
But just three days into their British Virgin Island vacation, Swift returned home to the U.S., leaving the 18-year-old boy bander to cap off the holiday on his own. The country crooner (who just turned 23) has recently been dubbed a sort of “cougar” in the tabloids. Her last relationship with famous teen Conor Kennedy turned heads for multiple reasons. But their well-publicized fling ended relatively quietly, reportedly because of issues with distance.
Although reports claim that a blowout fight caused Swift and Styles to part ways, there are likely a few other factors at hand. Just recently the pop princess’ father, Scott Swift gave the lovesick boy-bander a “talking to” – advising the teen to slow down, and to not break his daughter’s heart.
While heartbreak seems to be a huge part of Taylor’s mass appeal, in this instance, it may have been Swift who did the dumping. However, it’s hard to tell exactly who made the move, since a “heartbroken” Harry remained on the island and was seen cavorting in a hot tub shortly after splitting from the “Red” singer.
Some may not be aware that this is Swift and Styles’ second attempt at love. The two connected earlier in April 2012, before ultimately giving it a real go later in November. Details on the precise cause of the break-up remain fuzzy for now. But as we wait to see how the drama will play out, some wonder whether this is merely a bumpy chapter in the two pop stars’ love story—or whether Taylor is gathering data for her next batch of heartbreak songs.
