Country music lovers have at least temporarily pulled Taylor Swift from the saddle in the race for the top-selling country album.
Gary Allan’s new release, “Set You Free” tops the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, the magazine announced Thursday.
Swift’s “Red” slipped to No. 2.
Allan’s single, “Every Storm (Runs out of Rain)” is No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
Swift is at No. 9 on the country singles chart with “We Are Never Getting Back Together Again.”
Allan, 45, has released records since 1996, when he debuted with “Used Heart for Sale.”
“Set You Free” is his third No. 1 country album. He previously reached the top with “Tough All Over” in 2005, and hit No. 1 again in 2007 with his “Greatest Hits” album.
“Every Storm” is Allan’s fourth singles chart-topper. He previously hit the top with “Man to Man” in 2002, “Tough Little Boys” in 2003 and “Nothing on But the Radio” in 2005.
Allan is on a busy music tour throughout the United States. For tour dates, view Allan’s show page.
