Taylor Swift album among most-popular Christmas presents

Taylor Swift’s album, “Red,” remains at the top of the Billboard 200 chart largely because of heavy Christmas season sales, Billboard announced Thursday.

“Red” sold 276,000 copies for the week ending Dec. 23, Billboard said, barring T.I. from debuting at No. 1 with his new album, which sold 179,000 copies.

"It should come as no surprise then that the week marked the busiest for album sales in 2012," Billboard said. "There were 12.79 million albums sold last week -- the most in a frame since the week ending Dec. 25, 2011 (15.11 million)."

So far, “Red” has yielded three Top 10 singles for Swift. The debut single from the album, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” reached No. 1. The second, “Begin Again,” reached No. 7; and the third, “I Knew You Were Trouble,” reached No. 3.

Swift has had four Top 10 album since her debut in 2006 and she has had nine Top 10 singles.

Swift will appear on NBC’s “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” and will go back on tour in March.
