While “Grown Ups” didn’t strike oil with critics, it did well in the box office. The film brought in $271 million worldwide to prove there is an audience for Sandler comedy. Now the group returns to reunite for more laughs and they’re picking up new members as they go.
“Grown Ups 2” is headed to theaters on July 12, 2013. Taylor Lautner has decided to join the group, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Lautner didn’t sign on for a lead role but will be facing off with Sandler during the grown-up brawls Sandler seems to find himself in.
Lautner won’t be a new cast member that pushes out the old. From the sounds of the reports, Sandler has managed to dig up the original cast of Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Maya Rudolph and Salma Hayek. Dennis Dugan will be at the helm of the new summer comedy.
The plot is unannounced at this time but I think we can all figure out that it’s the old teaching the young how to live in a campout type situation. Maybe the campout won’t be the scenario this time but it’s a gathering of old friends teaching their young how to have some fun.
