Taylor Lautner set to go from 'New Moon' to 'Saturday Night Live' (with video)

Shirt-phobic "Twilight: New Moon" star Taylor Lautner hosts SNL Dec. 12th

"Saturday Night Live"s 35th season is underway, and it's been all over the map (which you'll already know if you've been reading our coverage as the season progressed).  With things drawing to a close for the year, the hosts for the next three live episodes of the show have been announced, and among them is "Twilight: New Moon" star and shirt-hater Taylor Lautner.  Who else is hosting?  Read on for the details, my gentle Examiner readers...

"Saturday Night Live" (which airs at 10:30pm on Saturday nights here in Dallas, for those unaware of such things) has had a rocky season, ranging from the highpoint of Gerard Butler's performance as host to the low, low point of January Jones' abyssmal turn on the show.

So, we're going to have to wait and see how the rest of the year's hosts turn out to be when turning their attention to sketch comedy.  Who's hosting?  EW.com has the answers, which we've helpfully quoted for you below:

Saturday Night Live will welcome hosts Blake Lively, Taylor Lautner and James Franco in December. Gossip Girl star Lively will appear on Dec. 5 with musical guest Rihanna; New Moon star Lautner will appear with Bon Jovi on Dec. 12; and Franco — the big-screen actor currently appearing on General Hospital – will appear with Muse on Dec. 19.

Frankly, we're surprised that Robert Pattinson didn't get asked.  Perhaps SNL is gearing up for an episode where no one wears shirts?  We'll have to wait and see.  "Saturday Night Live" has also jumped on the "Let's mock 'Twilight'" bandwagon recently, most notably when Taylor Swift hosted a few weeks back.  Here's what resulted from her performance as host:

That's not the first time we've run that Digital Short; it may be one of our absolute favorite "Twilight"-related clips thus far (and we've seen a lot of 'em).  Stay tuned for more "Saturday Night Live" news as it becomes available, my precious snowflakes.  And, while you're here, be sure to check out these other recent Comedy Examiner articles:
