Taylor Lautner says he wants to be known for his acting, not just his hot body.

Taylor Lautner is telling his fans he's not just a sex symbol and wants to be known for his acting and not just his body.
In a recent interview, the 17-year-old Twilight hunk said, “I worked hard to get in shape for this role. My motivation was the movie and the fans but I don’t want to become known as just a body."
Lautner, who worked out hard in the gym seven days a week to pack on his ripped upper bod said he's now annoyed by the hoopla over his handsomeness and regrets taking his shirt off in the first place.
While co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have always stayed steady in keeping the press at bay (as much as possible), this is the first time Lautner's really admitted to wanting to control his image.
“If I had to choose, I would never take my shirt off again in a movie," he said.
Then adding, "But I guess that’s not very realistic. I certainly won’t be asking to do it though.”
Lautner recently beat out R.Patz in the third edition of the Twilight series and Pattinson said he was glad to let Taylor take the front seat.
"I'm more of a supporting role in this one," Rob said of the next movie. "Which is why I felt so free. I didn't have to deal with any of the bullsh-- of the first one. I don't have to hold the movie or worry about the fans. I think I did it better without all those pressures."
And ready or not, Lautner will have to harbor the fandom - Shirtless or not.

I don't believe this actually what Taylor said, I believe his statement is being taking out of context. I think he is very grateful for the admiration of all of his fans.

I've always looked at Taylor for his talent i mean you could see that talent in twilight on the beach scene. He wasn't in Twilight as much as new moon but you could see there was something more there.
Finally he is now showing all that talent in New moon

He is a really good actor. He is very handsome. But i wouldn't want to go on tv shirtless so ppl all over the world can see. I agree 100% with him.

OK so I'll admit, at first I liked Taylor because of the way he looked. Notice the word like. Then one day I looked him up on the internet and I was like, "Wow. He's seems so sweet--perfection." Then I was slowing falling for him. I love hearing his voice, it gives this kind of contentment, I guess. He's not only a body to me, but a person, a real person. I know that if I ever met him, I wouldn't even be able to speak. I would just be staring at him wide-eyed and blushing. I bet he'll look like a god or something in my eyes. Maybe I'm obessed with him, but he is hot and sweet and caring and funny and cute and adorable and...yeah I'll stop now. :)
I have been saying this on NM.org for a few weeks now, TL needs to be known for more than his body if he wants to be taken seriously in the industry, I really know nothing about him other than he gained "30 pounds of muscle" prob because most of his fans are tweens and teens, RP has more of the older fans. Taylor being only 17.

i think he is really ripe for his age because he want to show everybody that his not another stupid and vain actor. The fact that he don't want to take off his shirt in a movie again means that hi's just shy if i where him i would have the same opinion __but that are just my speculations__
Aw. That makes me sad. I feel really bad now for ever having shirtless picture of him on my phone or on my computer... He IS a person, and deserves to be treated like one. He's become like one of those hot beautiful girls who are known soley for the fact that they are beautiful. Nobody cares anymore what they have to offer.
And that's not cool. No matter how beautiful or "hot" a person is, they're still a person. I know I would get sick if the only questions being asked where about my smokin' hot body and not about the time and major effort I put into bringing this character to life.

taylor - i agree w/you - it cannot be a comfortable place to be so young an revered in such a way. i catch myself thinking 'put your shirt back on, hon!' when i see the Jacob Black posters/pics. Once this series is over, i wish that you are able to return to your life, and in the mean time, i do hope you make the best of what you have - get an education, and dont lose yourself in Hollywood (think River Phoenix, Corey Haim..etc...) You seem like such a down-to-earth young man. I truly do wish you the best in life, kiddo. take care.

i could see why you want to be known for your acting instead of your looks but why let people take so many pictures of you mainly with your shirt off it sounds like you want the attention
