Taylor Lautner: I learned to box for 'Abduction' fight scenes

Breaking Dawn star Taylor Lautner, who worked out and ate around the clock to gain 30 pounds of muscle for the Twilight saga, learned to box for the action thriller Abduction.

'I Trained for Months for Abduction'

Lautner, a martial-arts expert, also wrestles, rides a motorcycle, kickboxes and jumps off tall buildings in Abduction, in which he gets caught up in an underground world of spies when he reaches out to his birth parents.

"Abduction was super-physical for me," Taylor, 19, says in the October 2011 issue of Seventeen. "I'd never boxed before, so I had to train for a couple of months. The last time I wrestled was when I was six years old, so I had to work on that.

"And then there was the motorcycle training. I rode a few dirt bikes in New Moon and Eclipse, but in Abduction, it was a legit street racing bike. And I'm not the biggest motorcycle fan—they're cool and a lot of fun, but they're scary as well!"

'I Love Doing My Own Stunts'

Lautner, 19, who was a junior world karate champion at age 12, loved doing his own stunts in both Abduction and the Twilight franchise.

"It was awesome! I got to do almost all of my own stunts," recounts Lautner. "I love the stunts, so to be able to have that opportunity was incredible."

Despite his sex-symbol status, Taylor enjoys a quiet, low-key personal life.

"I still live with my family, but the great thing is that I'm not the guy who likes to go out so much," says Lautner. "I don't really find that whole world intriguing. So the most I'll do is either have friends over or go to a friend's house."

Taylor, who's reportedly dating his Abduction co-star Lily Collins (daughter of pop star Phil Collins), is attracted to low-maintenance, fun-loving girls.

"If a girl doesn't know how to smile or laugh or if they try to play cool all the time [it's a dealbreaker for me]," he says. "Playing hard to get is not the way to win me over. I'm definitely more for the girl who can smile and laugh all the time and just have a good time!"

Lautner, who has been romantically linked to Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez, says communication is critical for a successful romance.

"It's important to work through things in a relationship," he says. "You can't just give up because you're frustrated. It's most important to talk things through together. And that, for me, has been the way I've best resolved problems in the past."
