Taylor Lautner beats Rob Pattinson for Male Hottie at Teen Choice Awards (pics)

Taylor Lautner beat out Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson for Choice Male Hottie at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards, which were held Aug. 8 at Gibson Amphitheatre Universal City, Calif.

Lautner, 18, was the undisputed breakout star of Twilight: New Moon and Eclipse, thanks to the rippling 8-pack abs he developed through months of weight-lifting and healthy eating. Taylor also won Choice Smile, thanks to his sparkling white teeth.

TWILIGHT HAD 12 WINS

Meanwhile, the award for Choice Female Hottie went to former Transformer beauty Megan Fox, whose mask-like face recently fueled plastic surgery rumors.

Twilight was the evening's big winner, scooping up 12 wins. Eclipse swept all prizes for Summer Movie categories, as well as Choice Movie, Choice Male Star for Rob Pattinson and Choice Female Star for Kristen Stewart (who did not attend the event). 'LAUTNER A MARTIAL ARTS PHENOM'

Meanwhile, Lautner, who's in the middle of filming the thriller Abduction in Pittsburgh, Pa., recently won praise from his co-star Jason Isaacs for his incredible athleticism and expert martial-arts skills.

"He's a martial arts prodigy," said Isaacs. "Even at 11 he looked like Bruce Lee. He's a phenomenon; he's like a gold-medal gymnast. Hollywood decided he is the latest action hero apparently, and I'm there in this film to make him look even more muscular. And I'll do that.”

Taylor, a junior-world karate champ at age 12, says he would love to be action hero like fictional superspy Jason Bourne (played by Matt Damon). "I love action, but most important is the story," he says.

Later this year, Taylor will begin shooting Breaking Dawn, the fourth installment in the Twilight saga. Breaking Dawn will be broken up into two separate films, with Part 1 due out in November 2011.

The 2010 Teen Choice Awards airs Aug. 9 on Fox.
