Actor Taye Diggs, who is currently starring in TNT’s drama “Murder in the First,” is making the jump to CBS in a guest-starring role on “The Good Wife.” According to an exclusive report by E! News Monday, Diggs has signed on for multiple episodes of the show’s upcoming sixth season.
Diggs will play Dean Levine-Wilkins in the creative role of an equity partner at Lockhart/Gardner. Diggs’ character is described as both “meticulous” and “talented” as he decides to join Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) at the Florrick/Agos first. The former “Private Practice” actor will get to show off his versatility and joins a cast that already includes Julianna Marguiles, Baranski, Matt Czuchry, Alan Cumming, and Matthew Goode.
As “The Good Wife” is coming off of its best season, the show is continuing its momentum with the addition of Diggs. Executive producers Robert and Michelle King have expressed their delight in adding the talented actor to the cast. They said in a statement, “We couldn’t be more excited to have Taye on the show. We’ve been huge fans for years, and love his ability to play comedy and drama with equal ease.”
Diggs has made other TV appearances on “Kevin Hill” and “Will and Grace.” Combined with his acting roles in featured films, Diggs will add more diversity to the show and will add a spark of freshness to an already very successful show. The recurring role puts the focus back on Diggs’ acting career.
As his romantic life has taken center state, the 43-year-old actor recently opened up about his split from Broadway star and singer Idina Menzel. In an interview with Redbook back in June, Diggs said the decision to split was tough, mostly because of their son and living on different coasts. He was recently seen with new girlfriend Amanza Smith Brown at the BET Awards in June. Season six of “The Good Wife” premieres September 21 on CBS.
