Theatre Chat.
Even Asistant Professor Drama/Musical Theater Marie Kemp knew Taye had the gift, "Looking back, I knew that he had something very special." "We could not agree more. Taye has the gift of bringing laughter to every project he touches. His talents have allowed him to create a platform, using his voice for arts, teaching children self love, and support of anti bullying." Theatre Chat.
"We share his website chocolatemetoo.com, you will find: "Chocolate Me" book, Chocolate Me T-Shirts and special events. Taye Diggs support for arts, youth, and his anti bullying campaign, should all be embraced around he globe." BroadwayGlobal. It does not hurt that he is married to the beautifully and gifted Broadway star Tony Award winner Idina Menzel (Wicked, RENT). Idina also shares insight on Taye. She gives a candid look into their relationship. The special video produced by Syracuse University is the same University that educated Taye. Even Idina is quaoted saying "School and the arts changed Taye."
One very important message Taye shared about his alma mater you can use and learn a very quick lesson in first impressions. "Through the classes that I took at Syracuse, and that amazing program, one person would stand infront of the class, and the rest of the class would say wheather they were a leading role, a character, or whatever. They did not in any way judge you, they would say, this may be how the general public may see you. You can be anything you want to be! Just keep in mind, how you are going to be precieved." Taye Diggs.
So how do freinds precieve this huge Film, TV and Broadway star today? Friends are thrilled to see that Taye and Idina are both grounded individuals. Like the lyrics from from the musical Wicked , "I've heard it said, that people come into your life for a reason, bringing something we must learn, and we are led, to those who help us most of all, if we let them, and we help them in return." Well we know that is true to life.
"We are a couple that met here in New York City, then it wasn't until months later, through our whole experience of Rent where we became really good friends. School and the arts changed Taye. Taye is constantly taking about his experience at Syracuse, and how the classes and the teachers, and the whole life... just prepared him for the business." Idina Menzel.
The video also shares his real first impression of Idina. "Idina and I met on RENT... Oh that was so long ago. Love at first site, it was not, it was lust at first site." Taye Diggs. Recently we shared an airport, on the go, homemade video. The video went viral of Taye and Idina, becuase Idina forgot the lyrics to "Wicked", but you could see thier lust has changed into an amazing freindship. They left the video un-edited and posted it on social media and it has brought new attention to "Chocolate Me". www.examiner.com/article/idina-menzel-and-taye-diggs-personal-a-broaderw....
The uncensored video tells you this couple is very comfortable expressing themselves. "The arts proved to be a place where I can express myself freely. My mother always instilled in me from an early age, that I was going to be going to school. Through the amazing program at Syracuse I was able to focus." Taye Diggs. It is fun to see Taye put on the spot. When Taye was asked how does it feel being a national sex symbol? He replies with laughter, it feels great!
A sex symbol humanitarian Taye is admired by his colleges."One things that I admire about Taye, is that he has carried himself with such grace of pride and integreity, reminiscent of people like Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte. People who have built a platform, but use that platform for to perfect positive change." Actor Boris Kodjoe. BroadwayGlobal could not agree more, Taye is a young mascot for tha arts. He puts a face on stardom, but brings that star quality to social programs that are much needed for our youth today.
His current catch phrase "Chocolate Me" has turned into a book, and now his ever changing brand. If you see Taye at a educational program about bullying. We would not be surprised. "Chocolate me, that is my labour of love. We want to continue spreading this message of diversity, anti-bulling, and self love. One of the first places that we were able to come, and have a book singing was Syracuse. It ment alot, feeling the vibe and understanding what we are trying to accomplish." Taye Diggs. Feeling the vibe is his magic. As Idina Menzel says "Taye is very confident. I mean with good reason, he has always believed in himself. He has always knew he is going to do something special with his life."
BroadwayGlobal thanks Taye Diggs for doing something special with his life. His unwavering humanitarian efforts are changing the globe one child at a time. When asked about his Arents Award. "It's a great moment. I feel like I have so much futher to go, but up to this point it is nice to know, that I am making people proud." Taye Diggs.
