Tax Day Tea Parties across America

Map of Tea Parties across America - Click here for full Google Map

All across the country this coming Wednesday, people will be celebrating the April 15 Tax Freedom Day; the day when Americans have made enough money to stop paying the government, and start working for themselves.

This year however will be a bigger celebration than ever before. This year Tax Freedom Day will bring with it a tax revolution the likes of which our forefathers in Boston harbor could never have imagined.

Every state in the Union, including Hawaii and Alaska, will have at least one - in many cases several - tax revolt tea parties.

Even so-called blue states - those that trend toward the Democrats - have multitudes of parties planned in peaceful revolt against the Obama administrations massive bailout and multi-trillion dollar budget. For example, the state of California alone has 58 scheduled so far, including in the ultra-liberal seat of Nancy Pelosi: San Francisco.

New York State has 27 scheduled, in Albany, New York City, Long Island and more.

The tea parties are billed as a pan-partisan outpouring of displeasure at the out of control tax-and-spend policies that have come into effect in the past year, both under President Obama and his predecessor President Bush.

While based on American lore of our forefathers tossing their tea into Boston Harbor in protest over the British Tea Tax, the current tea parties were called for earier this year by CNBC's Rick Santelli. In an on-air rant, Santelli called for a "Chicago Tea Party" to protest massive government spending. Previous tea parties were held in more than 40 cities across the country on February 27th.

A revolt against taxes? Maybe you guys don't understand what is to be expected of citizens? Got to believe these "parties" will amount to little more than "mental masturbation" for the right-wing fringe.

Don't want to pay taxes? Get out of the country!

  • Wendy Sullivan 3 years ago

If you really meant that Clinton, you'll be seeing a great many Democrats on the boat into exile...

  • MomOfThreeBoys 3 years ago

Maybe if EVERYONE paid taxes it would take the burden off those of us that do. I do not consider paying for abortions, hybrid cars for the government & welfare for people that work under the table to be my civic duty!

How about we abolish the welfare system? That works for me. Give help to the elderly & the feeble. Everyone else needs to get off their lazy behinds & work. I will not have my children paying for our government's mistakes.

  • Clinton 3 years ago

That boat already left...and Limbaugh is driving it...

  • Clinton 3 years ago

"momofthree", so you don't want to pay for abortions, but you don't want to pay for the unwanted children resulting from forced birth...hmmm, problem solving doesn't seem to be your forte. You're going to have to do one or the other.

I agree with you though, everyone who owes taxes should pay them...(as inane as this statement is...)

I am unemployed and have been for 9 months, I am not lazy, I have a degree and two certifications. I am more than willing to work, but our country is so jacked up right now, that there are no jobs. I lived in California, but since we are taxed on EVERYTHING, I have since relocated to Texas. At this point I don’t think we have any other choice but to revolt. This has nothing to do with right-wing or left-wing, it’s simple, our country was built on the basis of “No taxation without representation”. Somewhere along the way, we lost that value, and our representatives do not listen to the people anymore. I don’t know anyone that agreed with the “stimulus package” that was signed; we the people were do not have a voice. In the election, our votes don’t count, only the “electoral votes” count. Our government feels the need to give our tax money to everyone. Other countries benefit from our tax dollars; illegal immigrants benefit from our taxes, the only ones that don't benefit is us. Our country is seriously broken, and for those of you that still want to pretend that it’s fine, you are idiots.

  • BrokeMom 3 years ago

Clinton, your mentality is the reason our is so jacked up!

  • Steve 3 years ago

There is a big difference between supporting a single mother with an unplanned pregnancy and supporting a habitually irresponsible individual who's lack of life planning jeopardizes responsible citizens ability to support our families. Welfare for genuinely unplanned pregnancies is a small portion of the welfare requirement of taxpayers; the bulk of it is made up of people who think their situation is much worse than everyone else's. We all have to work, some of of just choose not to. And Clinton, I find it ironic that you would lecture a mother of three on what is required to support a child. And I can't believe I have to even counter this point, "What is to be expected of citizens?" So you would blindly do something because the government mandates it? Just because the rest of this country has forgotten what it took to get us here doesn't mean the rest of us have to turn into a me-first, self-serving, resource sucking waste. Not that I neccesarily believe in strong divisions between right and left, but from what I've been hearing and reading of those with a democratic persuasion in this country they need to take a good hard look at our constitution, that is before our current administration twists it into something our forefathers wouldn't even recognize.

  • BrokeMom 3 years ago

Wow Steve, bravo.... I agree with you 100%, I don't think this is what they had in mind when they drafted the Constitution! We are slowly losing our rights as citizens. The foundation and beliefs that this great country was built on is in serious jeopardy.

  • Clinton 3 years ago

"brokemom" you moved to Texas because of taxes? That seems like a pretty drastic move...maybe you were being facetious? Unemployed for 9 months? We've only had a recession for 3! Sounds like you are making excuses for your own situation and not allowing for others...a little hypocritical maybe. I work full time, and the longest have gone without work is 3 months.

"Tom" I'd like to know who the "habitually irresponsible" people are. Do you get to draw the line? I'm thinking a person going 9 months without working isn't exactly contributing there part. Therefore I nominate "Brokemom" as your first person designated "habitually irresponsible"...

Rather interesting Homeland Security and Obama are warning these tea parties will be predominately populated by extremist white supremacy groups, dangerous home schoolers, domestic terrorists, militia types and mentally deranged individuals.

No black supremacist groups are mentioned, though. I suppose if you are the same color as Obama, you get a free pass on government suspicion; only white folks are dangerous.

Our family attended a tax revolt here in California a few weeks back. I am not quite sure to which group our family belongs. I am red skinned girl, an English professor, my husband is a college educated old time rodeo riding Okie cowboy, our girl is a clinical psychologist out of Stanford.

I suppose if I wear my traditional Choctaw clothing to a tea party I will come under law enforcement surveillance being deemed a radical. Maybe I will be arrested for being one of those Wounded Knee radical American Indians our FBI tried to gun down in cold blood so long ago. I was around for Wounded Knee, although more than a thousand miles away.

My husband, cowboy hat, button down shirt, faded and worn Levi jeans, old time wrinkled cowboy boots, a wounded and decorated combat Vietnam war vet, my guess is he will be looked upon by Obama and his undercover agents as being a dangerous militia member. You know about our military vets; dangerous gun toting freedom loving fruitcakes.

Our girl, well, I do not know. She is mixed blood but looks a Valley Girl, when she is not done up a Gothic Vampire. I guess Obama's boys will follow her around while carrying butterfly nets.

    Tin soldiers and Nixon's comin'....

Is not this thinking displayed by Obama precisely the type of thinking which had Richard Nixon ordering students shot down at Kent State?

"Official Troll™" - I like that... may I use it in another blog? (BTW, am going to the one nearby and will be on the lookout...).

One must as.sume that some of these folks are "paid" to do this, are "brainwashed", or genuinely don't understand. You can see the same catch-phrases repeated by these folks on every single blog, and the intentional misdirection/redirection (sleight-of-hand). BrokeMom comments, "I lived in California, but since we are taxed on EVERYTHING, I have since relocated to Texas."

Our family loves the Great State of Texas!

You have moved, millions of other California residents have moved out of state. Ignoring this massive influx of illegal aliens into California, over the past five years more people and more businesses have moved out of California than into California. Today, there is a mass exodus going on.

We moved our girl to Reno, Nevada. Last year we bought a square mile of raw land up there upon which to build ourselves a home. We are leaving California because of this oppressive tax structure and because of Governor 1A Hole imposing the most massive tax increase of American history upon us. This obscene tax increase was imposed by both Democrats and Republicans.

I suppose, BrokeMom, you are keeping up with Republican Anthony Adams being recalled. Other recall efforts are underway.

This tax increase here in California was the last straw. We have closed our small business and laid off our employees. We can no longer afford to do business in California. We are joining tens of thousands of other businesses in leaving California, along with millions of ordinary citizens.

Very many states of our Union are imposing massive tax increases. Obama is already inflicting a lot of "backdoor taxes" upon America, and more are to come.

Americans are bankrupt, no jobs, lost homes, living on the streets, children going hungry, and Obama along with state governors are raising our taxes to help bailout fat cat criminals over on Wall Street.

Yes, ma'am, Obama is change you can believe in, this is, belief in what little pocket change you have, if any.

Just wanted to comment, I am from Canada and I moved to the United Stated about 2 years ago. I am 29 years old and I work in the oilfield. I love my country but I have always admired and respected what this country stood for. I grew tired of listening to the liberal brainwashing that is the CBC and the rants of the totally disconnected. I was very excited to finally move here and be a part of such a great history. It deeply saddens me to find this country going the way that mine did over the last couple decades. I have always believed what differentiated our countries and made America so great was the sacrifice and heart it took to make this great nation. I have seen what government run amock looks like, socialized medicare does not work; my dad was diagnosed with colon cancer and waited 9 months for his first treatment. That was 10 years ago and things have gotten much worse since. For those of you who still fight for this country and believe in it I pray you can stay strong against this machine. As for you Clinton, and the people like you, if you are payed to do this and knowingly sabotage the interests of your country, then you are a traitor to the people who have spilled their blood to keep this nation free. If you are merely sucked up into the admittedly powerful liberal machine or naiive, then you owe it to yourself and to your country to become better informed. You can sit and argue semantics all day about whats right and wrong but you know in your heart what you should do. The only difference is some people choose to take advantage of the excuses and free rides that our declining culture grants them, and some choose to act like Americans and work for what they want and need. This country will not survive if it stays on this path.

I am not paid, I am a citizen of the U.S., I work 40 hours a week, I pay taxes, I vote, I blog and I read. That being said, being a "mom of three" does not make your arguments valid. I have a college education, (which I know you conservatives hate), and I don't allow religion, "faith", or "feelings" cloud my rational thought. I love my country, I love my fellow citizens, (as long as they respect the founding fathers), and hope that those that are angry, (at what, I don't know), come to realize that our president has a 65% approval rating, leaving you haters on the outside crying. Keep up the good work, you are marginalizing your movement every time you open your mouths.

"A revolt against taxes? Maybe you guys don't understand what is to be expected of citizens?"___Clinton

I am a citizen of what used to be a democratic captolist country now moving towards Obamunism (a combo between communism and socialism enforced by Barack Obama Bin Laden). The people have the right to assemble in a peaceful protest, you being a socialist I don't expect you to understand. The people are standing up for themselves. Obama does not have a 65% approval rating BTW its around 57% and sinking. Bush was more popular at this time in his presidency. Obama is a socialist and if socialism is imposed in this country it will fail.

"There is no difference between the principles, policies and practical results of socialism - and those of any historical or prehistorical tyranny. Socialism is merely democratic absolute monarchy - that is, a system of absolutism without a fixed head, open to seizure of power by all comers, by any ruthless climber, opportunist, adventurer, demagogue or thug. When you consider socialism, do not fool yourself about its nature. Remember that there is no such dichotomy as 'human rights' versus 'property rights.' No human rights can exist without property rights. Since material goods are produced by the mind and effort of individual men, and are needed to sustain their lives, if the producer does not own the result of his effort, he does not own his life. To deny property rights means to turn men into property owned by the state. Whoever claims the 'right' to 'redistribute' the wealth produced by others is claiming the 'right' to treat human beings as chattel."
    -Ayn Rand "The Monument Builders"

  • Clinton 3 years ago

Heh, Ayn Rand? Let's trot out another example for once shall we? That's all you guys got is vague Ayn Rand references? Did Ayn Rand work for the American government at any point? Oh, she was Russian. That's what you are basing your whole opinion of government on? One author? hmmmm....

Again, major support for the President and his policies, (so far), and not so much support for crackpot right-wingers...Have fun at the tea party, I'll be working...

  • Jethro 3 years ago

Oh Clinton, quit being such a party pooper, and come on down to tea party. Granny will cook plenty of good vittles, and I'll personally see to it that you get teabagged. YeeeHawww!

  • Dirty Harry 3 years ago

Seems like a great deal of tea parties planned along the Boston-Washington corridor, Chi-Pitt area, and the left coast. What gives?

  • Mark 3 years ago

Clinton- "The reason socialism fails (I think Margaret Thatcher said this) is that eventually you will run out of other people's money to spend". Forgive us for being upset for seeing all of our hard earned money blowing up in smoke. I have averaged 70+ hours a week for most of my career and when some one wants to spend it for me and others like me its gets our attention.

Fiscal liberals like Obama have no concept of money they just have their little social experiments they like to engage in with little regard to history. I like having Clinton pop up every once in a while as he makes good cannon fodder by bringing the same old emotion driven left wing talking points.

It may be possible that Clinton is a secret right-wing operative trying to make the left look bad.

  • Revnant Dream 3 years ago

This is the real America. So what does the Obamites think of this while bowing to Islamists. All the while trampling on the Document that affords the very people who are supposed to be in control of the Government. Their individual rights being sold away for crumbs & collectivism.

SHOCKING NEW REPORT! OBAMA'S REAL TERRORISTS: TARGETING PATRIOTS AND THE RIGHT; read it at Atlas Shrugs to find out a report hysterical the obamites are about the right (they have already named them extreamists) having Tea partys but nothing about Jihadists

  • clinton 3 years ago

wow, thousands showed up! good going guys! Of course more people showed up at the inauguration than all of the "teabaggers" put together, but don't let me bring you down...

  • Jethro 3 years ago

YeeeHawww!! Granny spiked some of the tea with some good ole rheumatism medicine.

  • Mark 3 years ago

Clinton if these had been protest during the Bush Administration you can bet the media would be treating it differently. I'm not surprised at the inauguration turn out as it was the American Idol crown that got Obama elected. Let see how we are looking in 4 years with 10% inflation with printed money.

Wendy I'm not worried about Clinton as I've been owning him in the debates he and I have gotten into the last few weeks. He is a nice guy and will come around if we give him time.

  • Clinton 3 years ago

Sorry Mark, the anti-war protests were 10 times the size of the "teabaggers" and there was still little coverage.

It's time to stop blaming the "media", "liberals", and the "godless", conservatives, and it's time to take a serious look at the failures of your "movement". You need young blood, you need new ideas, and you need to extract yourselves from the undereducated south.

And also, Mark you are a Titan of debate. Ayn Rand has nothing on you, Defender of Ignorance, Slayer of Rational Thought, Enemy of the Intellectual...You must be very proud...

  • Jethro 3 years ago

Clinton:"undereducated south", that sure sounds like you're biased and bigoted against a significant part of the United States. I like the "enemy of the intellectual" comment also, man that one is LUDICROUS. I can't help but remember the infamous Howard Stern video making the rounds on youtube, where the interviewer questioned Obama voters in Harlem, now there was some real rocket scientist there. Oh yeah, turning our country into a nanny-state third world banana republic is a fine example of "rational thought." During the last 50-60 years all of these so-called elitist leftist intellectuals have done nothing but promote one failed agenda after another.

  • Clinton 3 years ago

"Jethro", I'm only referring to the statistics that show a lower level of education among people south of the Mason-Dixon, no opinion, just sociology...oh wait, "librul sy-en-tists" make that stuff up don't they?

First off "Jethro" can you name one of these vague "leftist intellectuals"? Martin Luther King? Cesar Chavez? Betty Freidan? Any more? If you don't know who all three of these people are, (no wikipedia), why would anybody take you seriously? I'm afraid that Sweet Tea and Lynard Skynard aren't gonna help you on this one...

  • Jethro 3 years ago

Sure MLK was the guy that may have plagiarized most of his speeches, Chavez, hmmm, oh yeah he was a great lightweight boxer, and Freidan, oh well I got 2 out of 3.

  • Clinton 3 years ago

"2 out of 3"?! What is this, a Meatloaf song? Actually, 1 out of 3, confusing a boxer with a workers rights advocate is mildly racist, but not as much as referencing MLK as a guy that "plagiarized speeches", Jeebus...

    The Pride of Tuscaloosa, "Jethro"!

  • Mark 3 years ago

@Clinton being from Alabama originally and educated there I take exception to your comments as I have a lot these educated Californians working for me in LA and I don't in any way feel out of their league.

You have articulated some of the simplest minded points I have ever read on any blog.

If your from the South your stupid and bigoted!

If you are a Republican your greedy!

Should people on the Right just say that all the Democrats are welfare moms and lazy?

There is not a lot of room if we debate and statements like these are made by either side.

Clinton since when is big government spending like Obama is doing a new idea? Is this new blood? I stopped you in your tracks the last time we debated this when you could not even point to an example of a successful “Progressive Economy” in a large diverse nation like ours-you could not come up with one as I recall but you at least had the courage to admit it then- I was just curious since that was a couple of weeks ago have you had time to find an example that might give us confidence in Obama? If you are going to always criticize conservative government policy then at least at a minimum point us to the shining light of that “Progressive Utopia”. If you could point me to that successful “progressive economy” you might sway me to your side and you would not have to worry about me clocking you in these squabbles all the time.

  • clinton 3 years ago

Mark you are asking a ridiculous question...Name a "successful “Progressive Economy” in a large diverse nation like ours"...There has never been such a thing! That's the point! We've never tried it! You are asking me to show you something that has never existed, and assumed that since I couldn't, that for some reason, it couldn't exist. This has nothing to do with your intellectual ability Mark, and everything to do with your misunderstanding of what you claim to know. Alabama you say? Why am I not surprised...

  • Mark 3 years ago

@Clinton, There are a lot of progressive economic models to look at in Europe. Several European countries have shifted to the right recently as the "entitlement culture" has nearly crushed them as it has been proven time after time that they do not elevate the standard of living for the populace. I'll take the swipe at Alabama, but I would wager that if your middle of the road independent takes a look at our arguments here and other postings that I've gotten the better of you in these debates. The center-right economic model (what the U.S. has been the last 200 years) has been the most productive and inclusive without a doubt. Even China realizes that "Profit Motive" will drive your society to achieve more, lead to more advancement etc. The down side for some committed leftist is that some people get rewarded well for hard work.

Clinton, what Obama is trying to do is nothing new- study a little history. It is not like he is the first world leader to try and expand government.

  • Clinton 3 years ago

There is no country, with the size and diversity of the United States. It is it's own country, you cannot compare it to any European or Asian country. America is pushing 300 million citizens, in European "socialist" countries, you're dealing with no more than 50 million in any one country, America is it's own thing. That being said, I agree with your reference to the "center-right" economic model, the point being...THAT'S WHY WE ARE IN THE TROUBLE WE ARE NOW!!!

In a burgeoning pastoral country, (like the early U.S.) instilling a sense of personal responsibility is necessary to keep the far flung farmers from rising up. America is shrinking, travel between major cities is easier and people live closer together, and as we look through history the only thing to do is to adjust our morales regarding what we owe to our fellow citizens.

It's not about history Mark, it's about rolling with the punches, being responsive to change, and doing what needs to be done. Simply saying, "keep doing the same thing", will not work...

  • Jethro 3 years ago

"There is no country with the size or diversity of the United States." Hey Clinton have you ever heard of Brazil.

  • Mark 3 years ago

Clinton, I am of the opinion that the only place where socialism may work is in a smaller country like Switzerland where they have a stagnant population, no military expenditures but have huge proceeds from banking etc. where you may have some limited social entitlement success. We have a huge country that is assimilating diverse groups of people, carrying rightly or wrongly the military burden for ourselves, Europe and Asia and it requires us to be competitive, innovative and resourceful if we are to find opportunity for our ever growing population and meet our global commitments (whether or not we need such commitments is another debate). The United States still is the most diverse, inclusive Nation in the world (not that we can’t do better) who often gets criticized by Europe when the Europeans can’t even take care of business at home as far as offering opportunities to minorities etc. (This is why the racial tension is so high in many of the “Progressive” European Countries as many of the immigrant groups feel like they are locked in their place).

The theme of my arguments here is that capitalism and success will allow a diverse nation like ours to come together and racial lines to be erased. If you start the entitlement culture you will create high unemployment, low self esteem etc. A lot of the immigrants that I’ve met (I’ve met a lot) can’t believe how easy it is to make it in the U.S... I believe that the reason some of our native born populace here does not share the same attitude is that “poverty pimps” and social activist have told them they are victims and can’t make it on their own without big government. There is a correlation to it when the well intended Europeans offer up all of these entitlements but racial and ethnic tension grows.

Let's just shut down Washington DC until our government representatives agree to listen to and act upon the will of the people.
