Tax clinic session for local filmmakers

Tax season: the dread of everyone everywhere. Yet it can be relatively more simplistic for those outside the film industry. Within, the freelance aspect and qualifying tax deductions are often a cause for anxiety and confusion, especially for those new to the industry's lifestyle.

To ease the stress, New Orleans Video Access Center is hosting a Filmmaker Tax Clinic on Saturday, March 22, starting at 10am.

Clint Mock, founder of Mock & Associates, will guide participants in an in-depth discussion covering tax regulations for filmmakers and independent contractors. His tips and advice will help toward maximizing tax returns. Mock & Associates is the nation's sole firm exclusive to the entertainment industry. They service film productions in Louisiana, Georgia, North Carolina, and Nevada, and specialize in multiple aspects of entertainment: film, digital media, software development, entrepreneurs, sound recording, and live performance.

The tax clinic is free for Producer-Access NOVAC members and Fiscally-Sponsored Filmmakers, and costs $20 for Basic and Filmmaker-Access members.
