Tawanna Iverson, the ex-wife of former NBA star Allen Iverson, has asked for $1.2 million in advanced child support from her ex. According to TMZ on Aug. 31, Iverson has demanded the money because her ex-husband has refused to pay on numerous occasions.
Courts ordered Allen Iverson to pay $8,000 a month for the couple's five children in child support payments, but Tawanna Iverson has had to drag him to court on numerous occasions to get the money from him.
AI went to court in July because he owed over $40,000 in back child support. The judge in that case said he would throw Allen Iverson in jail if he didn't pay up, so AI paid up. However, Tawanna is tired of taking her deadbeat ex-husband to court and has asked the courts to force Iverson to pay all child support from now until October 2026.
That is the date that their youngest child turns 18. Basically, she wants all the child support from now through the date that their youngest child becomes an adult in one lump payment, so she doesn't have to worry about taking her ex-husband to court all the time.
The total amount of child support that AI owes Tawanna Iverson over the next 13 years totals out to $1.272 million. While that seems lofty, it is for five children and their mother said that she wants to put the entire lump sum into a trust fund for their children.
