Taun Taun's Game Finds: BioShock Infinite Sky Hook & Portal Gun pre-orders up

I had previously covered these two items and have been awaiting the release of the BioShock Infinite Sky Hook Replica to release. GameStop announced on Facebook that both the Sky Hook replica and the Portal Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device Kit are both available for pre-order now! Unfortunately, GameStop had no description of these overly awesome gaming goodies that I wanted to give you the low-down so that you know what you are getting with your purchase!

The Portal Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device Kit is an actual Portal gun replica. However, it is a white shell of the gun that allows the owner to customize the gun to their liking. The kit includes four plastic stripes that have magnetic backings to allow you to attach and remove them from the body of the gun. This way, you can take the gun for a journey in Atlas, P-body, or Chell's shoes. It also comes with four stickers to place them on your device to your liking.

All three other replicas, Chell, P-body, and Atlas, came with a three-way switch that allowed the player to switch the LED effects between red and yellow, or center it to turn it off. The Portal Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device Kit comes with "an additional switch that allows you to cycle between all different LED effects (red, yellow/orange, purple, and blue) and includes the in game sound effects activated when you pull the trigger," shares NECA's official site.

I have the original Portal Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device and I love it! It feels sturdy. It is not too heavy to make it difficult to carry around, if you are using it for Halloween or cosplaying and it's not too light where you feel like it is going to break with the slightest bump. If you are anything like me, you will baby your device, nonetheless. You can read more about my device and other major announcements of cool goodies NECA is releasing in the future by clicking HERE.

You can pre-order your Portal Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device Kit HERE for $99.99. That is a great price because the other three ran $149 and I thought that was well-worth the asking price. You don't have to wait too long to receive it, because it will release on November 9th. Click play on the video to the left to see it in action!

NECA has another goodie that I am extremely stoked to get my hands on, the BioShock Infinite Sky Hook Replica! I picked up the items that they released for the previous BioShock and cannot wait for their BioShock Infinite toy releases! I stated before, "While at the behind-closed-door gameplay screening of BioShock Infinite, I noticed this statue with a flag draped in her hands and thought to myself, 'I sure hope someone replicates that!' Rest assured, NECA's got that covered, along with Elizabeth, a Boys of Silence figure, and the Sky-Hook Replica."

While we wait for the BioShock Infinite Series 1 Assortment to go up for pre-orders, the Sky Hook Replica is now up and ready for you to do just that! The Sky Hook can be seen in action by clicking HERE to watch the video posted by Irrational Games.

The BioShock Infinite Sky Hook Replica is available for pre-order for $79.99 and will be out on February 26, 2013. I'm not to sure if it will come in the special box as shown in the picture in the slideshow above. I will contact NECA and update this post once I know for sure. We can assume that it does. But again, GameStop was lacking descriptions on both posts.

Here is some more information on the BioShock Infinite Series 1 Assortment, which includes Elizabeth and the Boys of Silence that will be released in February as well, as posted on NECA's official site:

We are proud to unveil the first 2 action figures from the year’s most anticipated game release: Bioshock Infinite (releasing February 2013), and the first 2 figures will include Elizabeth and one of the “Heavy Hitter” villains - the Boys of Silence.

These figures stand 6.5″ – 7″ tall and are loaded with detail and articulation. Elizabeth stands 6.5″ tall and features over 20 points of articulation and includes a real fabric skirt.

The Boys of Silence stands 7″ tall, has over 25 points of articulation and even feature a carefully concealed opening mouth mechanism that is central to their in-game actions.

That is all for this Taun Taun's Game Finds. See you all next time!
