It's a rainy and stormy night in July. Most mainstream listeners are attending The Warped Tour down at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater near Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, NC. Unfortunate for them to be rained on via of lawn seats, but a shame is the people out there are not looking for those hidden gems that are local bands. Tattermask is one of those bands that is considered a hidden gem and a handful of people in the casbah of Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte reaped the rewards.

Tattermask, Vragmotor, and Shadow Of Myself took the stage on thursday night at Tremont Music Hall. The first thing and one of the greatest things was that the group are the fans as they are the musicians. There was not a time the band was off to the side either drinking or in a corner watching and waiting, no, the band was there in the audience while Shadow and Vrag made their rounds, head banging, and cheering on their mates. Impressive performances by both Shadow Of Myself and Vragmotor definitely got the crowd ready for Tattermask, who play the headliner positon well. Tattermask's logos glared from the lights across amps and the head of the bass drum when the equipment was brought to the stage. Now it was time to show why they are a grounded band that doesn't lose the ability to have fun on and off-stage.

The band pumped most of their heaviest songs for their set that night. Having a type of Lacuna Coil mixed with Seether's mainstream feel and hook while keeping the crowd entertained with their antics on stage, and tearing a new one into the fans that decided to attend The Warped Tour instead of a local show. Being it is a local show, the band had only one set back which was simply the vocal being too low to make out among the instruments. That is not a uncommon factor from the experience this examiner has gathered. Countless times it has happened, but things could have been so much worse via of the mixing and Tattermask were able to get past that and put on a great show despite. The band took time to tell stories, talk about trivial pop culture, bands they like, etc. If there is any band that supports the local scene the most, Tattermask would be a great argument for that position. Listen to the interview with the band Tattermask conducted by yours truly at the bottom and from Examiner.com, Charlotte, please keep rockin' will ya.
