"The X Factor" U.S. 2012 winner Tate Stevens has revealed the titles of two of his songs that will be on his debut album: "Holler If You're With Me" and "Ordinary Angels." A Pepsi-sponsored videoclip of "Holler If You're With Me" will premiere during the 2013 Grammy Awards telecast, which CBS will air on February 10. The entire video will then premiere online. In an interview published on Rollingstone.com on January 25, 2013, Stevens said: "When I won 'The X Factor,' part of the deal was getting to do this video shoot with Pepsi and Syco Music/RCA Nashville. They've teamed up to do this video to get America the first look at me."
As previously reported, country singer Stevens, 37, has signed with Syco Music/RCA Nashville. The two record companies are part of Sony Music. Stevens won $5 million, the Sony Music record deal and the Grammy Awards premiere of his first music video as his "X Factor" grand prize.
Stevens filmed the "Holler If You're With Me" in Simi Valley, California. He told Rollingstone.com what the video's concept is: "The whole concept is just people getting together, having a big bonfire party. That's the idea – you're going to a Tate Stevens concert, or party, in the middle of nowhere."
He commented on the extras (more than 100) that are in the video: "Of course the more they heard it the more they got involved, and they were singing along and stuff. It's definitely gonna be a lot of fun to throw down live."
It has not yet been announced if or when Stevens will tour. He was one of the performers on Fox's "New Year's Eve Live!" show on December 31, 2012.
Stevens told Rollingstone.com that even though "Holler If You're With Me" is his first music video, the song will not be his first official single. He said that "Ordinary Angels" is "probably a really strong candidate for a first single. It's got a great message behind it."
The release date for Stevens' first album is to be announced. He's been working on the album in Nashville with songwriters/producers John Shanks and John Rich. Other collaborators on the album are to be announced. Even though former "X Factor" U.S. judge Antonio "L.A." Reid was Stevens' mentor on the show, Reid is not involved in Stevens' album or career since country music is not Reid's area of expertise.
Reid quit "The X Factor" U.S. in December 2012 because he said he wanted more time to focus on his main job as chairman/CEO of Epic Records. In January 2013, Britney Spears announced that she has also left "The X Factor" U.S. judging panel. It has not yet been announced if Demi Lovato will remain on or exit the show's judging panel in 2013. As of now, Simon Cowell is the only judge confirmed for "The X Factor" U.S. in 2013. The show's entire judging panel for 2013 should be announced by May.
