ANALEMMA WINERY with Special Guest Winemaker Steven Thompson
analemmaIn what is becoming Oregon's most dynamic emerging grape growing zone, Mosier has finally landed a serious winery facility with what we predict will become a destination tasting room for anyone traveling to the Gorge. Analemma is the creation of Winemaker Steven Thompson and his partner Kris who together tend the vines (and an impressive cherry orchard) while Steven handles the winemaking. Having caught the wine bug while cycling through Tuscany, Steven had the opportunity to learn biodynamics first hand at Cayuse. A few years ago, they were lucky enough to take over what was then Dragonfly vineyard in Underwood (now called Ativus), one of the oldest vineyards in the Northwest. From there, they have set roots, literally, in a large swath of land a few miles out of Mosier up State Road where wind-swept Syrah and other varietals will soon make their way into the Analemma assortment. All of this leads up to a great tasting. Come meet Steven, here his story, and most importantly, taste the dynamic wines currently available - two bottlings of Gewurztraminer, an elegant rosé and a delicate Pinot Noir. A special event - please join us! New date TBD once the grapes have all come in and Steve can break away to join us in Portland!

Doug Culver of C&G Wines will be pouring new direct imports from France, Italy, Sardinia, and Corsica:
La Jara NV Prosecco Rosé $11.99
90% Glera, 10% Raboso.
This effusively fruity, light-bodied offering offers terrific floral notes, persistent effervescence, and a clean, delicate finish. There is perfect body and weight in this crystal clean, pure, sparkling white. It is an ideal aperitif.
Les Perles 2012 Picpoul de Pinet $9.99
The 2012 (100% tank-fermented Picpoul) exhibits copious quantities of tart grapefruit and green apple notes, light body, crisp, tangy acidity, and a refreshing, zesty personality. It is the kind of dry white that New World producers have yet to master.
Cantina del Bovale 2012 Vermentino di Sardegna $12.99
Cantina del Bovale's 2012 Vermentino is a pretty, round white laced with melon, pears and white flowers. It shows good body and richness.
Domaine Vico 2012 Vin de Corse Rosé $14.99
70% Nielluccio, 30% Grenache
Light, bright orange. Floral, spicy aromas of raspberry and cherry pit, with a hint of licorice in the background. Smooth and expansive on the palate, offering spicy red fruit flavors and a touch of bitter herbs.
Jerome Calmes 2010 Coteaux des Languedoc "Les Capucins" $9.99
75% Syrah, 25% Grenache
All aged in tank and hand harvested, the vines are located in the limestone foothills of Larzac at about 2500 feet in elevation.
Domaine Vico 2011 Vin de Corse Rouge $14.99
80% Nielluccio, 20% Syrah.
Planted on schistous soil at 300 meters in the Golo Valley. Unique, rich, earthy, racy wine. The palate has a supple mouthfeel with flavors of licorice, pepper, and raspberry jam.
Cantina del Bovale 2011 Monica di Sardegna $16.99
Dark red cherries, grilled herbs, juniper berries and spices all burst from the glass. In 2011 Cantina del Bovale did a magnificent job with this entry-level red, a wine that captures the essence of one of Sardinia’s indigenous grapes, and way overdelivers for its modest price.

2012 Casas Del Mar Cava, Blanc de Blancs, sparkling from Penedes $10.99
Nose of toasted brioche, small elegant bubbles bring hints of
apples and apricots to the palate, finishing with elegant notes of citrus
2012 Zestos Garnacha, Old Vines, from Madrid $9.99
Made from vines planted in 1969, this high altitude (2800 feet) Grenache
is a head-pruned vineyard planted on granite soils.
It has produced an unbelievable wine for the price.
Lots of kirsch, strawberry, black currant and licorice aromas
jump from the glass of this medium-bodied, richly fruity,
surprisingly intense red. Notes by Robert M. Parker, Jr.
2012 Altavins Tinto, Grenache, Syrah, Carignan fron Terra Alta $10.99
Raspberry, Morello cherry and plum with sweet tannins and refreshing acidity.
2011 Lopez Cristobal Tinto, from Ribero del Duero 14.99
A young red, tasty wine suggests that his brief stay in cask was well suited to the fruit.
A well structured and balanced wine.
2007 Magana “Dignus” Cab, Merlot, Tempranillo from Navarro $18.99
Ruby-red. Initially reduced nose opens to show a deep dark berry personality.
Ripe blackberry and cherry flavors
are supported by solid tannins that carry through the finish.
Leaves a sweet impression, along with espresso and licorice qualities.
This needs air.
2005 Beronia Rioja Gran Reserva from Rioja $24.99
The oak softens the wine and imparts a complexity that simply cannot be replicated in stainless steel.
A bodega (Spanish for winery) will only produce a Gran Reserva in exceptional years.
This Gran Reserva is the product of great care in the cellar from an outstanding vintage.
Try this with braised lamb or pork tenderloin with grilled vegetables.
