It's back!!! It's time again for Taste of the Gables, so put the feedbag on and chow down on small bites representing the flavor of 35 Coral Gables restaurants.
The kick-off to Coral Gables Restaurant Week (June 9- 29th) starts this Thursday, June 5th at the Westin Colonnade Hotel. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., more than 35 restaurants, including seven newcomers, will offer bite size dishes and desserts.
New to the 7th annual Coral Gables Restaurant Week are: Bellmont, Bricktops, Castelluccio, Divino Ceviche, La Tagliatella, Uvaggio Restaurant and Wine Bar and Open Stage Club. This event will give diners a chance to try some food from these recent additions to Coral Gables.
Some of the returning restaurants are: Anacapri, Angelique Euro Café, Bulla, Caffe Abracci, Caffe Vialetto, Christys, Cibo Wine Bar, Flemings, Fritz and Franz Bierhaus, John Martins Irish Pub, La Dorado, La Taberna Giralda, Miss Saigon Bistro, Ortanique on the Mile, Randazzos, Red Koi Thai and Sushi Lounge, Ruth Chris Steakhouse, Spritz, Sushi Maki, Swine Southern Table, Talavera, Tarpon Bend and the Local Craft Food and Drink.
In the mood for something sweet? Seasons 52 will be there with their famous mini-indulgences in a variety of flavors.
Making the event even more fun is the fact that ticket holders will have a chance to vote for their favorite dish, to be proclaimed "Best Taste of the Gables". This event is sponsored by Bacardi USA.
It's recommended to buy tickets in advance, since this event has sold out in past years. Tickets for general admission are $30 in advance, $40 the day of the event. V.I.P. tickets (limited to 150) allow guests access to all general admission venues, as well as a Bacardi open bar, additional gourmet food stations and a fabulous goody bag.
The party starts at 6:30 p.m. and goes until 8:30 p.m. Visit coralgablesrestaurantweek.com to purchase tickets.
Here's some advice to newbies from the Miami Dining Examiner, a veteran "Taste of the Gables" attendee.
#1 Grab a glass of Prosecco and survey the battlefield, scouting out "must try" items.
#2 If you try a bite of a dish and don't like it, toss it. There are too many yummy bites to try.
#3 Wear comfortable shoes. It's a lot of walking, up and down stairs as well and diners should be concentrating on their stomachs, not their aching feet.
#4 Don't count calories. Indulge and enjoy!
So, start that green smoothie cleanse and get ready for the 7th annual Taste of the Gables this Thursday. The Miami Dining Examiner will be there with her (practical) dancing and eating shoes on.
