Unfortunately, the Oktoberfest street festival in Manhattan on Sept. 29, 2013 was a bust, but there is one main good thing about New York City. If success isn't had at first, keep walking! There is a new adventure around the corner, as it was so yesterday when there was singing heard in Bryant Park. Upon entry, a new cultural festival, The Taste of France, was seen.
French wine, French food such as escargots, and of course French music filled the air. Also unique to the Taste of France festival was there was so many opportunities to learn and practice French. They offered free French classes and even had a game to learn new French words. Of course, the festival felt very French because so many people spoke the French language around so it was almost like being in a small festival in France itself. They even had a zumba class en francais!
It was a shame to have missed the first day of this two day festival. But there is always next year, and until then, best to learn some new French vocabulary to practice at next year's Taste of France festival.
