Family fun is not always within your means, but when a city, like Encino, gets together to celebrate it can be a good excuse to take hold of the family to fight off boredom and visit the Taste of Encino event this Sunday, October 13 at 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Ventura Boulevard between Balboa and Amestoy in the San Fernando Valley. There will be business vendors like KFWB news radio station, AutoAid and First Bank. There will also be a Health and Wellness Pavilion to get information on disaster preparedness, senior living, health and dental care. There will be Home Improvement vendors, a kid’s area and who could forget the food. There will be food from Mrs. Beasley’s, Coco’s, Daphne’s California Greek, Yamato, Poquito Mas, Gyoro-Gyoro Japanese, San Luis Sourdough and Smoke City. The crafty can find something alluring to dig their hands into at one of the arts and crafts booths such as Gerri’s Tees & More, Michael's Jewelry Design, Stain Glass Cartoons and Sandez Mexican Art. There will be delightful distractions for everyone and the best part is that it is free admission. A true event would not be complete without live performances. There will be singers, bands, choirs and puppet performers to entertain the masses. A portion of the event proceeds benefit area schools and community betterment projects. They are always looking for friendly faces to help out, so if you are interested in being a volunteer click here for a volunteer application. The event is being sponsored by Providence Tarzana Medical Center, Wells Fargo, KFWB news talk radio, Mercedes-Benz of Encino, Universal City Nissan, Los Angeles Daily News, and Galpin Ford just to name a few.
