The first three sessions of "Taste" were so popular (all sold out in advance) that Real Art Ways has established a second series. Once again, the three-session price is $60 for members and $70 for nonmembers. After the first session on August 25th you will only be able to buy single-session tickets (click on the dates below) at $22 for members and $25 for non-members.
One Monday evening a month, guests will watch an episode of the French series Inventing Cuisine, taste a bite prepared and presented by a top area chef, and chat with him or her about craft and inspiration, often including the chef featured in the episode just watched. Host Rand Richards Cooper, contributing writer for the New York Times and Bon Appetit (among other things) will be back to guide the audience through this interactive culinary and artistic experience.
The new series schedule is:
On the next evening, Tuesday 26th August, the West End Farmer's Market, which sets up on Clemens Green in front of the Mark Twain House & Museum on Farmington Avenue, is holding their annual Tomato Festival, featuring live music, guest chefs, food trucks, vendors of all kinds, and tomatoes of course.
Transport Hartford will hold a "Bike from Bushnell Park to the West End Farmer's Market" event in conjunction with the festival. The route is just over 1.5 miles and they are planning a slow paced, fun ride with a group. Great if you're looking to try out biking in the city, want to get suggestions on how to carry groceries by bike, or if you're an experienced cyclist looking for camaraderie on the road! Meeting point is the Bushnell Carousel at 5:00pm; departure may be a bit later to allow persons who work until 5:00pm to congregate.
