The 114th Boston Marathon is less than a week away and a local company is doing its part to unite Boston Marathon runners and charity efforts. Local start-up, TaskRabbit, allows people to post errands on their website to be completed by "runners" for a price. However, with the Boston Marathon approaching on Monday, April 19th, TaskRabbit has turned the Boston Marathon into an "errand" itself, and actual runners are accepting the "job" of racing from Hopkinton to Boylston Street to raise money for their charities of choice.

Since we all can't run like elites Meb Keflezighi or Salina Kosgei during the 2010 Boston Marathon, local runners are using the 26.2 mile opportunity to raise money for a good cause. Locals "errand seekers" visited TaskRabbit's website to hire background-checked runners to complete the "task" of running the Boston Marathon on Marathon Monday through TaskRabbit's "Run My Marathon" campaign.

So far during the "Run My Marathon" initiative by TaskRabbit, various people and their charities have outsourced the actual running of the Boston Marathon to local runners. A former runner undergoing breast cancer treatments hired a local to run in her place and raise money for the non-profit, The Ellie Fund. The president of the National Federation of the Blind of Massachusetts purchased a runner to tackle Heartbreak Hill for him, while a lady recovering from hip surgery hired a runner to raise money and awareness for her local Council on Aging.

Check out the TaskRabbit site for more details on how people outsourced the actual Boston Marathon running to a local runner, while raising money at the same time. TaskRabbit is still looking for people to donate to the charities chosen and for locals to help hand out fun gear and products along the Boston Marathon course on April 19th.
