Libertarians from all over the Dallas/Ft. Worth area pitched in to build, ride in, wave signs from, and parade alongside the float.
The float's theme, emblazoned along its flanks, was "Libertarian Party – Supporting Marriage Equality Since 1972."
Based on random comments ripped from the Facebook pages of the Tarrant County Libertarians, TCLP chair Allen Patterson, Libertarian Booster PAC's John Spivey and activist/former candidate Ken Stanford, everyone had a blast.
"The Democrats had a small car, a couple of folks and a small sign. We won." – John Spivey.
"One of our best events ever. We walked and rode through the streets of Fort Worth with people saying 'Libertarians! YEAH!'" – Allen Patterson.
"We were the only float with music and we pretty much won the parade." – John Spivey.
We WILL be doing this parade again next year. What a day!! – Allen Patterson.
"Guys, it was a great experience. I totally enjoyed singing 'Proud Mary' in front of the protesters. They didn't know if they should enjoy or protest. I am for the libertarian party!" – Dezman Lehman.
"Richard Forsythe's constant commitment to taking the time, energy and his resources to help in these parades is inspiring. He is a hero." -- John Jay Myers.
"Great volunteers, float riders and marchers." – John Spivey.
And never at a loss for... word:
"This thing was such an awesome collection of awesome freakin' awesomeness that I'm at a loss for words to describe its incredible levels of just...awesomeness." – Allen Patterson
"That's awesome!" – Rhonda Short
(It's only an unconfirmed rumor that Mr. Patterson and Ms. Short will be attending the Libertarian's Public Speaking forum later this month.)
