Target Corporation is laying off more employees, to the tune of 475 spots worldwide. The company has been struggling to find its balance after the data breach that compromised customer data, and the layoff announcement is the latest in a string of difficulties for the giant retailer. Kare 11 shared the details on Jan. 22.
The company released a statement Wednesday indicating that the Target layoffs “are the right actions as we continue to focus on transforming our business.” The company has also left about 700 positions unfilled in recent months. Though until now the company has offered part-time workers the opportunity to have health coverage through the company, that will end on April 1.
The Target layoffs come on the heels of the massive data breach over the holiday season that put millions of customers at risk. The company also laid off about 150 people back in October. Will this week's move to let go nearly 500 people be the shift that brings the company to a more stable place? Target Corporation's employees and customers hope that will be the case.
